Hindsight is 20/20. Watching the smoke puff out the muffler, when its coming out all over the place, yet not seeing the big picture trying to keep it running. In the edit section you can clearly see that. I believe they call that "LACK OF AWARENESS" in human factors world. To put this in your video is priceless, I didn't catch it on the first swipe either, yet in your edit section clearly shows what is going on. Totally mint. Thanks for not editing that out, tells a much better story.

I was so convinced that it was the carb, I didn’t notice the muffler. Usually I keep my runners in a garage (no mice…) but I moved some sleds out to the barn two summers ago, and totally didn’t think about mice… I was checking my footage later that night and it just jumped out at me! I was relieved, because honestly I couldn’t think about what it could be… It’s the first time it has happened to me, so I will take it as experience. Glad you enjoyed the vid!

Nice sleds. Back in 1990 we got a 1970 399E Nordic. My dad had a choice between that and an Alpine of the same year and I'm glad we got the Nordic. The Nordic had some brackets to widen the ski stance and it would just barely fit down the trails. The guy who had them actually bought 2 new Nordics and an Alpine at the same time and used them commercially for 20 years!

Yeah, I always liked the Nordics, especially the smaller engined ones. 399 is a nice size engine and with electric start its even better! Yeah, I would have chosen the Nordic over Alpine any-day. Your dad made the right choice!

Good stuff Matt. I do mostly Polaris on my channel but occasionally I get someone asking for Ski Doo content. I'm going to start sending those people your way.

I do the same. I am all CATS, mostly cause I am too lazy to switch brands. I know where to get stuff I need, who has what, all that. You switch brands you are starting over from scratch. Matt has really stepped up his channel this year..... BIG TIME. Nice work Matt.

Thanks a lot!!! I checked out some of your vids and enjoyed them quite a bit. In one of my upcoming vids I want to get my 1975 340 tnt FA running again and I was watching your vid on the 340 tx engine repair and I am always amazed at how much better other companies were at making piston port FAs!!! I could never lift the skis with my 340!!! I was thinking of getting an old MERC sno-twister FA for vintage runs but maybe i’ll consider Polaris!!!!

My 1970 skidoo olympique 399 from my last video had the Red squirrel packed the muffler, corn and sunflower seeds, but if you seen the video, after a lot of shaking the muffler and a deep clean of the Carb. she is alive. Hoping you get it going I am only 9 1/2mins into the video so far, so crossing the Fingers you get to ride.

Looks like your sled is running top shape after the carb and muffler clean!! You have a nice lake to ride on!! Lucky! Take care!
