Old truck sounds like it's ready to let lose a barrel of whoop ass! Really nice lope.

Definitely put more money into your exhaust than I did, I literally just cut the stock single exhaust off at the passenger floorboard and shove a cherry bomb on when I go to inspect it. Regardless I have finally found a 318 that idles and revs pretty close to mine, all the hotrods have a higher pitch, I think they use skinnier exhaust pipes

Reused the stock springs... i wasn't too concerned on this 318, as i have a 440 to put in it if this thing ever dies

@silvervette732 good to hear I have a 1967 plymouth fury 3 and I wanna hop up the 318 in it. If it ever dies I plan on getting a 383 for it?

So any tips for flat tappets?
@silvervette7323 жыл бұрын
Use a good assembly lube, I use Lucas High performance, and make sure you have a ZDDP Break in oil addative.. and use it with every oil change. These new motor oils don't have the same zinc content, so with every oil change you're losing lubricity for the lifters. As for break in, find a reputable builder and follow their instruction. Plenty of decent videos, make sure your timing is set and the fuel is primed for initial start up. Some people say soak them over night while others say it isnt necessary... i just used the assembly lube and filled the oil while the intake was still off.

I know it’s been a year since you posted this video but I was curious you just did the cam in springs and lifters correct you use the stock push rods? Because I want to do that to my D 100 lol
@silvervette7322 жыл бұрын
Stock push rods and springs, only did the cam and lifters, probably should have done springs, but i haven't had any issues with valve float. Wasn't looking for performance, just a nice exhaust sound for when im cruisin

@@silvervette732 how high are you revving it? I’m not looking for a hot rod just more than a smog era 318 in my fifth Avenue and debating if I wanna deal with valve springs or not lol (I don’t plan on keeping the vehicle super long either)
@silvervette73219 күн бұрын
@micahrlusk not sure in that video, i was under the hood, but im not easy on the old girl, i run it up to 5 or 6 k if im on it shifting and final it runs at 3k or so at highway speed.
Did you reuse your springs and pushrods?, looking at this cam for my 73 318, sounds great btw
@silvervette7324 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes I did, probably should have atleast done the springs. But it was a budget build cause I think theres a 440 in its future.

Blackhorse racing, single chamber 2.5 inch, I think the pair was like $50 on Amazon, I figured they were cheap enough if I didn't like em. I'd send em back and get flowmasters.. they're pretty heavy seemed decently built. And I dont mind how the sound.

Shit the cam is only like $85 I’m gonna throw one in my 75 D100 New lifters and springs and that’ll probably be it see what happens lol

I really really hate to be that guy but that is wayyyy to much cam for a stock two barrel 318. If you 4 barrel swap it then it would be fine but that cam isn't much of a improvement with a 2 barrel

Manifold, let me suggest Weiand 8007 "Stealth" manifold. It is from their "Nostalgia" series and very similar to the Edelbrock LD-4B. Edelbrock AVS2 or Holley 1900 Street Demon.
