I kind of like it when we can follow the process that includes the thinking and trial and error. Instead of the time lapsed where everything runs smooth which makes it look simple. Too simple. Keep up the good work. :-)

Nice video...... thanks for taking the time to put these out. If people subscribed they know when the Firebird videos come out. I like the time between videos.......... doesn't cut into my work time or sleep time. If people want a car done in 30 minutes, well, there's always TV shows that do that. lols.......

You know, I think you would be a brilliant shop teacher. Someone bought me a '72 Charger, & I'm actually beginn9ng to think I might be able to fix this thing up! You've said a few times that your wife doesn't want to be in front of the camera; but I wish she would do a car painting series, I know I'd benefit from that, & I'm guessing others here feel the same! Thanks again, this channel is fantastic for those of us just starting to learn all of this stuff.

You are going to restore a car after watching a few KZbin videos ? Wow !

Thanks a lot and really cool to hear you get something out of it. With your Charger take it small and practice the welding first and then I think its something with enough time and patience you should be able to tackle. We will see how things evolve down the road and where the channel goes.

You have to start somewhere, fixing it up might be just sanding down the paint and installing a few patches. I have heard it many times people tell me that car is unrestorable or don't bother but once you dig into it the hands on experience is the best way to learn.

Good job. I used trailer fenders for the inside of a mini tub and leave the stock outer tubs. It doesn’t look stock, more race carish. But it’s $100 for 2 trailer fenders

Very cool Richard... has me thinking about whether or not I should do a mini tub since I have to remove my outer wheel houses.... Great video as always will be watching your videos in great detail end of November :) do a little binge (Taking time off then)

I did mini tubs is a Nova before with the quarters on the car and used the detroit speed kit. It was a smooth install and recommend it for your car if you choose that route.

Thank you, It will have a lot of trans am influence, but it will not be a clone even if the trans am is one of my favorite cars.

taking a car down to the inner structure like that is an incredible amount of work do you do all the work your self or do you have a worker that comes in to help you sometimes i like watching i am learning a lot thank you

Thank you very much and yes it is a lot of work. Currently I only have family helping me on the stuff that is really needed for two people, but besides that I am the only one building them.

My understanding with mini tube you sacrifice the rear seat??..., also in general for body panel fit up, how close is good, maybe not a good question but 1/8 inch in relation to one side and the other considered close?
@carthageclassiccars
@carthageclassiccars Жыл бұрын
So I have a youtube short video on this channel with a challenger I got the back seat in with mini tubs, the seat just requires some slight modification on the edges but it should fit. I usually set the gaps around 3/16 of an inch. If you can get 1/8 inch around the whole car and nothing hits then go for it.

Quick question I finished my body work, should I spray my epoxy as a sealer then apply the high build urethane?

I agree with Danny I put epoxy on any metal as a moisture barrier and work off that.

For mig use on these cars what wire ER or initials and numbers do I need for body panels? I went to pick up a spool to try practice but no one there could answer my questions
@carthageclassiccars
@carthageclassiccars Жыл бұрын
I use L56 mig wire at lowes honestly because its close and I never plan out my wire when it runs out but that should be the same as ER 70S-6

I didn’t do mini tubs when my ‘68 Camaro convertible body was redone and I always regretted it. Even with just a mild 327 those skinny factory tires were no match for the horsepower. My guess is the vast majority of these original cars were either 6 cylinder or low HP V8’s, so wide tires from the factory weren’t needed.
@carthageclassiccars
@carthageclassiccars Жыл бұрын
Everyone I usually talk to with these first gen f -bodys usually say the same thing. I think if I remember right a 245 or 255 will fit with the perfect offset and a little bit of HP will spin that. Usually on these cars the tubs blend pretty well and don't stick out much.
Wait for the last one 🤣🤣 #shorts #minecraft
