Those suicide door Continentals were 5,000 lbs but still had plenty of reserve power. On a family vacation in the early 1970s, my grandfather's 1970 Impala broke a fan belt. But a kindly couple used their 1969 Lincoln with a tow chain to pull our 4,000 lbs Impala to a repair station.

The four door in this video had the Town Car Interior Option which is very rare.

@R S It's my favorite interior of the 1969 Continental sedan. It's m.s.r.p. was $249.20 (1969 dollars, by the way) and was available in 5 colors: black, white (black instrument panel and carpet), dark blue, dark ivy gold (a dark olive green) and light ivy gold (a cross between sage green and champagne gold; dark ivy gold instrument panel and carpet). The Town Car interior for the '69 Continental sedan was the pioneer of what eventually became the Lincoln Town Car, believe it or not! In a nutshell, here's how it happened: first offered on the '69 sedan and returned on the restyled '70 equivalent; for '71 (Lincoln's 50th anniversary), it was a special re-introduction (to commemorate the occasion), introduced mid-year through the '71 model year and officially included, as standard equipment, 'Town Car' emblems on front fenders and trunk lid and vinyl roof (same material as the Mark III) for the first time; 1972 model year, it finally becomes a sub-model of the Continental line-up (an attempt to compete with Cadillac's Fleetwood Brougham model); 1973, a Town Coupe model is added; fast forward to 1981(the final year for the Town Coupe model), the former Continental becomes the Town Car and Continental Town Car becomes Town Car Signature Series. I hope this helps.

This is epic! Love how the literally start with yachts and then move to land yachts :D Also love how they spends ages talking about the most inane thing, like lights and attractive drip moldings hnngh

Awesome. Handles like a yacht. I miss being a little kid and rolling around in the back seat of my Grandparents' Lincolns and Cadillacs... Days gone by... And it was really nice the older folks paying all the bills...

The designers of the Continental Mark III had to have looked to the Mark II for inspiration.

That's exactly what they did, but also going back to the original from the 1940's.

The Lincoln will always be associated with the Kennedy assassination, even 6 model years later. Every time I see a Chrysler 300, I think of Lucky Dube 😢
