That looks to be a very original GT if only because the rear seperate panel between the two rear reverse lights still retains its panel joint lines as a mild vertical recess. That is very rare these days as most GTs have had these 'joints' filled in with subsequent resprays etc (which shows the bulk of the paint on this MG is original ?). That is a very desirable feature - I'll now take my anorak off now.

Dude, you turned the ignition and lights on and walked around. Lucky you didn't burn up the points and coil and kill the batteries.

Thar is a mk1. Not a 1969.

It's a Mk.II ! It has the all-synchromesh gearbox (introduced with the new Mk.II in November 1967), and revised interior door handles. Plus it is a 'G' reg which fits with the interior door trim change and gearbox change from 1 August 1968 - 31 July 1969.
