As of writing this comment, I'm in the middle of season 7, episode 2, watching camp 2 of Adam 12.

I enjoyed watching Adam-12 when I was a kid. For nostalgia's sake I have an Adam-12 siren. It's the same kind as the one that was used for the siren sound effect in the TV show. It's a Federal PA20 with wail, yelp and alert tones (c. 1964). I also have the PA20A series 2D, which would sound period correct for the 1969 Plymouth. The Federal electronic sirens that were made in 1960s sound so much better than the high-pitched 1970s versions.

Awesome build man. Brings back memories. I can remember watching Adam 12 as a youngster. So thanks for sharing ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.

Beautiful restoration on Adam -12. Im a relative of Martin Milner. I'm here in CT. I'm disabled now and would love to see your restored unit in the future. You ever come down this way with it near RI? Would love to see your progress on the hot sheet desk. I grew up as a boy with Adam 12. Great work again.

Love the Fury II, especially the front-end treatment and grill. I think in the last years of the show they were driving something like a 4-dr Plymouth Satellite that had a similar front-end to a Road Runner

Nothing like a solid red light that just signals STOP. Looks precisely like the cop car they used in Smokey Bites the Dust...

I always wanted to get a Plymouth Belvedere to make into a Adam 12 police car very cool. I don't know if you're gonna do this. But on the roof it's says in black numbers 012 for any helicopters that are in the sky. They could know which car was that unit. The lights also said 012 in gold not the number that you have on it nurrently, if you're making an Adam 12 car.

I still watch Adam 12 today. Also have a 1968 4 door sedan that would be very tempting to clone into am Adam 12 car.

I have a '76 Valiant sedan that the original owner gave me. It's funny because it was built towards the end of production, so it is a "Custom" ( aka 'bottom end') trim level. Should be a total stripper model, you'd think. V8. Handling/HD suspension package. 26" radiator with shroud & clutch fan. Map light. Cloth headliner. Passenger-side mirror. 2.76 sure-grip. Arm-rest bench seat. Carpet. Power brakes...I asked the woman if she ordered the car, but she drove into Town & Country Chrysler- Plymouth ( North Seattle) around Christmas of '76 and it was sitting on the lot. Think it was a "Sales bank" car that the line workers were just Christmas tree-ing with some left overs as it went down the line. It's a complete anomaly

While the real police cars had 15” wheels, the 1968 and 1969 Belvederes used by Mark VII productions were standard model Belvederes with standard suspension, brakes, and 14” wheels and tires. They also had the smaller 273 (1968) and 318(1969) engines. The 1968 & 1969 LAPD package cars had the same 383 4-bbl engine used in the Road Runner.

Dub works nice job all you gotta do now is put 5150 in the backseat for Grandtheft auto that would be good get all dressed up as a cop and go to a show and I have them sitting on handcuffs in a chair for effort you can get them to sign stolen parts keep up the great work that works I’ll catch up with you one of these days the valve cover story still in my head and you’re gonna laugh about it goodbye safety bacon PS I didn’t see a fire extinguisher where is it
@DubWerks Жыл бұрын
LOL I'll get him for bad registration! Let me tell you about the fire extinguisher, I used to have one in the car, then one day working on the carburetor, it caught fire and I had to use it! Have to replace it.

That car is amazing. I live in your area and have an 80s M body. You know of any shops around here that specialize in old Mopar? It has a rotted k frame I want swapped out. Then I could daily it again- it's very reliable and drivable. Nice little 318 moves it right along in modern traffic. It's just been sitting since around when covid started and I hate to let it keep deteriorating.
@DubWerks Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm not sure of any Mopar specialty shops around here. There might be one out in Bristol, but I don't know if they work on anything other than the standard Roadrunner, Charger, Etc.

I know the radio transmissions had to be relayed and the cars couldn't talk to each other. Not sure exactly how the system worked but it could explain the difficulty in finding that radio.
@rupe53 Жыл бұрын
Interesting that you have that Motrack radio, which I recall as the predecessor to the Mocom series. (I recently gave one away) did a lot of radio work for our local FD in the 70s and 80s. We had the same units but never realized they were available in high-band. (short antenna) I also never saw the wiring harness between the radio and siren. Ours always had two separate mics, although the radio was wired to hear things outside the car.
@DubWerks Жыл бұрын
Yes, Motrac, Motran, and Mocom were all available and all around the same time. I believe the bands were different. I think CHP is one of the last using Low Band still!
@rupe53 Жыл бұрын
@@DubWerks ... we used low band well into the 90s, after I retired from the FD. The biggest problem we had was I did "tweaking" and fine-tuned to the max. It was not unusual for our units to easily talk 100 miles, which was (sometimes) a problem for other departments in the area, because the FCC reassigned frequencies as close as 50 miles. Granted, the 100 miles was "hilltop to hilltop" and the idea was to communicate from valley to valley. Such was life in the early days!

Another California rule u might not be aware of is that if the unit had a PA-20 with the HI-LO variable, it had to be disabled. Also, although Federal did make that cheat cable between the radio control head and the PA-20, LAPD also had a hard wired ability were it was hard wired between the back of the Motrac head and the PA-20, if u watch the show u will see that u see the motrac head without a connector hooked up to it, because they had the hard wired version. Check ebay ocassionaly sometimes the motrac head plate with the SIMULT position comes up. Not all LAPD cars at the time had it... a lot of the cars just had the 4 channel head....I remember reading somewhere that there was someone making a full accurate replica of the hot sheet desk... also have u got the 2 shotgun racks for the car, one for the front seat and one for the trunk? good luck with the rest of your restore...
@DubWerks Жыл бұрын
I did hear that! Some of the cars had the PA20 with Alert too. If you watch some of the early episodes, you can see the interconnect cable, season 1 maybe. I do have the shotgun rack up front but not in the trunk. Hotsheet desk is in now too!

I miss my 1969 Belvedere... I sold it about 20 years ago to someone who was going to turn it into an Adam-!2 replica- as I had planned, but I found I enjoyed driving it too much! Mine was Lime Light Metallic, and hauled... Loved it, never should have sold it
