I was 7 years old when my mom bought a 69 hurst package firebird that was special ordered. My mom went to the dealership and didn’t see anything she was looking for until leaving , when we were pulling out she seen it in the back by the mechanic’s shop and inquired about that one . It was white with dark green interior. The salesman said a guy had ordered it and had not come to pick it up . My mom said if she could not have that one she would not have any that the had . They called my mom a week later and said come get it . I do not know what the original price of that car was but she paid $6990 for it . That is the first time I went 160 MPH . A year later my mom got pulled over in Chattanooga Tennessee and got a ticket for 142 in a 65 MPH on the interstate. The officer was going to take her to jail but I was there and only eight years old and that is the only reason she did not go to jail

As a teen I had a nearly new '67 Firebird. It was just the base model 3.8 liter OHC with the shifter on the column, no less, but it only cost me about 2500 dollars and I loved that car.

My friend's girlfriend had a 67 OHC 6 convertible four speed that her father bought for her when she was in high school in about 1978. It was probably $1500 if that. I don't know the circumstances why, but it ended up getting a 350 put in it.

Honestly if it's a base model ohc single one brl carb they are not worth a ton of money even in perfect shape, now if it's a Sprint version with the 4brl they are worth more, I actually own a ohc6 67 bird but needed more power so swapped it, it now has a 68 Pontiac 350 !!

My first car, purchased new, 74 sd-455 trans am, red with no chicken. Turbo 400 and 308 gears. After warranty out, change to 3.72 ring and pinion. Add hooker headers and thrush mufflers, b&m holeshot convertor and trans pak. Recurved distributor. Would pass anything but a gas station. Back in the day, car craft said you lost 100 hp out of the dual exhaust to 1sideways muffler to 2 exhaust pipes. The thrush were loud and it definitely made much less back pressure. Would run 12.20's all day.

Umm, yeah. Pontiacs don't maintain oil pressure in long left-hand turns. Just too many issues to work out in a 2-day thrash. Haste makes waste. You guys got Roadkilled on this episode! Hope you build it up for next year though. '69 Firebird is one of my dream cars.
