1969 Pontiac GTO One Owner Barn Find Restoration

This is really inspiring. So good to see good work done to a single owner gem like that. I'm here looking for tips from fellas like you who are going through the laborious process of TLC. The story behind it makes the project so much more fun. I related with this story as that my father bought his 68 GTO off the lot in 67 before he was shipped off to Vietnam. He still owns the car and it is garage kept. Hasnt been on the road in over 30 years. He is now also dealing with dementia and Im starting the full restoration project with him as much as i can for his enjoyment. All the TLC and time and money i can invest into it for him is gladly spent. It put a smile on my face watching this video.

Thanks for the kind words, my Father passed away Sept 29th he was also a Vietnam vet, gun trucker in the 88th, he had multiple issues from Agent Orange etc. Them guys are disappearing at an alarming rate. You'll have to be the next caretaker of your Dad's car, that's all we are really and someday even we'll be gone and someone else will be the caretaker then.

I have a 1968 GTO hardtop, in Verdoro Green. Probably about as rough as yours was when you started. What a good thing there is so much reproduction sheetmetal for these cars, that makes it possible to save ones that are pretty far gone

My frame is shot too. They are getting hard to find. Hard to believe the cars we grew up riding around in are over half a century old now

I have an opportunity to get a shell with frame no front fenders that is straight. It is a Lemans. I have a a GTO that has too much rust but with a Vin. If I were to use the shell would it still be a GTO or Lemans?

I hate to comment in this subject but IMO its still a Lemans becuse the stamoed #s in yhe body will reveal the difference to a pro. You can make a clone as long as its disclosed that way if uou sell it. .
