1969 Volkswagen Beetle Hood Seal Install

i find windex makes a good lubricant also👍

Just did my seal, and having latch issues, it catches but now I have 1/2 of play in hood after latching takes place, I expected quite the opposite thinking new gasket would be a hard push on closure. Any suggestions?

What year is your Bug? The hood will generally be tighter after the new seal. Maybe your locking pin has loosened some . Loosen the lock nut on the lock pin behind the hood handle and tighten the pin. Do this in small increments or you could end up with a hood that won’t open.

1970 I’m thinking it’s not latching now, becouse the hood does want to travel down more for closure, so I’m guessing the latch spring needs compressed a bit?
