1969 VW Bug Project - Episode 54 - Narrowing the Beam Part 3 - Cutting Down the Tubes

I am a professor of English by trade, and I have no formal mechanic training (which is often quite obvious). I'm also into making semi-interesting/entertaining videos showing how I've gone about my restoration work. The smaller of the two brackets on top of the beam is just the mount for the steering damper.

I'm loving it. Rides nice, especially after I took a bit of air out of the tires. Only issue I'm noticing is my turning radius is a bit wider now since I had to adjust the steering stops to keep the tires from rubbing the inner fender well/chassis.

Next time take the amount you’re narrowing out of the middle and the just relocate the mounting brackets. Less you have to cut up the beam and weld back together
