When you pull your vintage Volkswagen air-cooled engine out, take the opportunity to truly inspect your tarboard and some electrical. We start with Bruce sharing why VW used tarboard (00:43) and the differences between the Emden plant (1:13) and Wolfsburg plant (1:27) tarboard.
With the engine bay empty, Bruce:
removes the old seals and tarboard (1:41)
inspects the firewall and engine bay (4:41)
walks us through the backup-light wiring (5:16) setup
As for "No Glue", the #enginebay was truly a sight to behold (4:41) before the new boards were installed! The car still had its original 1969 "clips" and "tabs" on the body, and so, no glue is needed.
