Billy Williams was my hero as a kid. His 1970 and 1972 seasons were spectacular. He finished second in MVP voting to Johnny Bench both years - and in '72 he out hit Bench by 60 points!

I'll never forget that 69 season, I was 11 . I swear it seemed liked the cubs won every day at home that summer. I get goose bumps when watching film from that year.

I was 10 in 1970. Would watch the afternoon games on WGN. No lights at Wrigley then. I’d have my cubs baseball cards laid out by position. 50 years later I can still recall the starting lineup. “Hey Hey!”

That game on September 7 1969 when Willie Stargell left the ballpark with that home run that landed on the street I thought it was over right there

I was 10 in 1970 and I loved coming home from school to watch this great team play. I still have my Ernie Banks autographed little league bat! Such great names from those days - on other teams too like Tom Siever, Bob Gibson, Willie Stargel, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks, Rollie Fingers. I had all their cards too! Hey Hey Holy Mackerel!!!❤
