For future reference, take a deep well socket with the size that fits your top shock nut, I think that its 9/16, and put on 2 or 3 extensions on your ratchet, turn the nut and pull at an angle at the same time, keep turning and pulling and you will bend the shaft on every turn and eventually it will break off, you will have it off in about 30 seconds.

When I swapped a V8 in for the old V6 of my 1980 El Camino. I got a free lowering kit along with it. That front squatted a good 3" after the swap. Yaaa-hoo! Of course that all ended when the drinker side kept lowering even more over the next couple years... Just rebuilt the whole front end (Aug 2021) and now she's sittin' pretty again. Stock height though, didn't know I could get lower springs. (First ever resto-mod-rebuild-custom-fixin'-uppin'-projectamobile ever, so I'm a livin' and a learnin'). A guy has to admit those coil springs are mighty fearsome creatures. Still have all my fingers and all the ugly parts north of the shoulders though, so there's that!

Derek Derek Derek! Earlier when you said that you and your brother gave up and just drink heavily. I shouted, “Merica!” Five minutes later, you’re whack and away on the driver side ball joint in low and behold you shout, “Merica!” 3 times. But what’s even funnier is when I said it earlier in the video, I thought to myself it would be cool if Derek said it. And then you did! Incredible I can’t make this stuff up. Well, actually I could, but why would I. Too cool!!!

reminds me of the time i broke the upper control arm, laughs because with a bit of welding rods and some peices from a diamond harrow i finaly got home. and went through hours and hours of persistant determination the drop straight axle from dad's old Fargo pick eventually held the front end off the ground and made a semi cute sorta gasser out of my 69 chevelle. best was never broke any thing ever again, probaly added 75 pounds to the front with all the metal and welding rods used to make leaf spring hangers and such. down size never leave home with only wheels that fit the chevelle only. but it worked to go down the track and was all i wanted.

I couldn't get the ball joints to separate on my 57 Bel Air with a pickle fork. $110 on ebay gets a set of pullers that helps tremendously. But just putting a jack under the lower control arm seems easier and almost safer than putting all thread down the shock hole and having it bind. Besides, who needs a face?
