@exoticlown yes you can use your trans, you have to get a bell housing for a chevy big block. be careful with the 4 speed, any kind of torque on the stock gears will tear it to shreds. as for your step down engine, i would always recommend the chevy 350 small block. Good luck!

I'm a fan of the older Malibu Chevelles (66, 67) even I say that thing is a beast. I'd love to see a meet up between yours and Jerry's (guy from the local car meet) he drives a stock looking white 67 with steel rims and bowl caps. car doesnt look like much untill you go into it. Quick change rear, muncie 4 speed and what USED to be an old stock car engine. now fitted with alum heads. dunno the power or the kind of times it runs at the track. all I know is it scares the hell out of me hahaha

@1GaryH114 жыл бұрын
Yeee-haaa! That is one nice Chevelle that you can have some fun with now! However, from the school of "bigger is better", you are probably going to want to consider replacing that 572 with something like, oh, say, a Sonny Leonard mountain motor - up around 772 cubic inches - or maybe 872 cubic inches...
@my87z2814 жыл бұрын
nice car, i have a backhalf 87' camaro with a 509 in it running 10.40's, and a 71' chevelle with a 468 in it (street car) but she will still hook up to run 11.80's with drag radials. not to critisize at all but i do agree with a previous statement about finding a better flowing muffler, the flowmasters have had tests done and proven to not flow well, i run nothing but dynomax they flow excelent, and i would certainly step up to atleast a 3" pipe

@exoticlown If you are only running 1/4 mile then long tubes with turn downs will not damage your engine. but for normal street driving try a straight through style muffler, it will quiet it down a little without killing power, and will increase back pressure so you dont burn up your valves. also for 1/4 mile times, its all about gearing. you could build a bad ass motor, but if you dont have a nice rear end, your not gonna go anywhere. i have a 350 in an s10 with 4.56 gears that runs 11.3

Yeah same, how I'm building my 1969 chevelle is going to be a like a 30 min cruise every Sunday or Saturday so I kinda want to have some good fuel economy. Cause the bigger c.i. the greater the gas gets drunk FAST, so yeah like what you said get a smal c.i. (396) and upgrade it to 550+Hp and Trq
