Personally, I'd keep the oil line the way it is. Seems like the plastic pipe is just not as durable and may be subject to chaffing. Also, if you do keep it the original way, I'd replace the braded hose. Yours looks original to the car. I had an original on mine and was in poor condition. The problem is that you can't see the real condition under the braided cover. Mine looked good but crumbled upon removal. Thanks for making the video.

Hi Stu, I agree with David, I contemplated something different and, in the end, stuck with the original set-up, just put new parts in, original metal pipe of course. Make sure you replace the leather washer on the back of the gauge, this is a typical leak point, also not sure how you would go with the connection on the back of the gauge unless you somehow adapted the nylon tube to the original metal pipe connection, for me the easiest way out was to replace the gauge and all the connections, it was at that point I decided to stick with the original set-up.

@@David-wy9jl think with yours and the other comment I'll be ordering up all the correct pipework. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍

Was good to get it back in. Just a few bits to clean up before fitting in the engine bay. 👍

i would use the plastic pipe that old flexi pipe could be perished under the brade but maybe put a bit of rubber pipe round the plastic where it joins the bulkhead/clamp to prevent chaffing .

Will definitely be replacing the rubber pipe. I'm swaying towards getting a new hard line and hose specifically for the mgb now. 👍

Hi Stu, I know it's a bit late now, but I found installing the brake lines and doing the wiring loom prior to putting the engine in was a tad easier. Not a criticism, just an observation, personally I found it easier.

@@CrapToCream I have run all the lines and wiring in the engine bay. Maybe it's because I'm not running a servo as per original it's not so clear. 👍
