This reminds me of my Dad driving me to my Grandma's house in Hicksville from West islip and listening to the radio in the 70s. I love it. Thank you!

Actually am enjoying the sounds of New York radio in '70 while watching that video. As a Philly guy whose experience of Long Island is snarled traffic on clogged highway, this ride was amazingly uninterrupted, pretty, and pleasant. The songs you've captured are perfect.

Thanks for the nice words. Much appreciated. Yes, Long Island has some nice , scenic roads. Unfortunately, the ones with traffic outnumber them.

Great work! Brings back great memories of my childhood. Growing up in Queens, N.Y. Transistor under the pillow late at night, on the beach, school yard, kitchen ball radio on a chain, bike radio. Always had WABC on, listening to top 40. Loved trying to pick up other stations far away late at night.

Thanks! Sounds like we had the same childhood.

Thanks for this, it brought a smile to my face this morning. I grew up in NJ, in the 1960s-1973. I was always listening to WABC. That little transistor radio, and WABC opened up a world of music. I remember listening to that little radio night after night, Magic! Thanks

I've lived in West Virginia all my life, but one of my favorite NYC radio memories was being in rush-hour (what a misnomer!) traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway in 1980 listening to WHN.

I was amazed by the ability on-air of a guy who was management. On the TV series Batman, the executive producer did the announcing.

Enjoyed this music compilation from 1970, however the video of modern cars we see today, I really didn't care for. The video should of showed cars from the 1960s 1970 era. That would have been really cool. Jeff...New York

Thanks Jeff. Several people have told me that. I will try to find some footage and re-edit it. i just didn't have any available. Thanks for your comment.

Not a lot of dashcams in the 70s. No one knows why.

What was WPLJ (WABC-FM) doing in 1970? What about WNEW-FM? Was WNBC-AM still doing talk? What about WNBC-FM?

I don't know, but I'm sure if you Google it, you can find out. This was all I had.
