Wabc was everywhere, Wherever I went it came with me on my car stereo. stopped at the local store and WABC was on. Stopped at any gas station to fill up and check the tires and it was on. Went to the beach (Orchard Beach in the Bronx or Rye Beach)and everybody was tuned in on their little transistor radio. Stopped at the red light and it came on from the car next to me.

Just seems silly that (for most historical WABC MusicRadio airchecks it seems) the full versions of almost 50-year-old pop songs cannot be played. Some dumb copyright rule, I imagine, and I suppose the "copyright cops" are constantly trolling these websites to see what's going on. Can anyone cite the specific federal law that disallows this, and how does playing the full versions of these songs now, as it happened then for historical purposes , make the (I'm sure now many defunct) record companies, the songwriters, groups or solo artists (or their estates) that much poorer? How is it that You Tube allows the posting of many of the recordings of these songs themselves - from albums or singles - to be played in full?
@joefriedmanfriedman30872 жыл бұрын
They always cut a Jock's radio air check from Rap to Rap, with minimal music track presence, this actually has longer music clips than are typical on these builds.📻📻
@garytorresani8846 Жыл бұрын
It has nothing to do with music copyright laws. This is an air check done so the DJ could listen to his work after his show. It activated when the mic turned on. The DJ wasn’t interested in the music. I was in the business for years and air checked all my shows for that reason.
@PeterDrewVoiceovers Жыл бұрын
Was in the business, too. Commonly callled a 'scoped aircheck, short for telescoped aircheck. Dan was a big inspiration for me, a major reason I spent 25 years in radio. I love coming across these airchecks on KZbin, checking in once again with "the Ingram mess."

Updating my last post, I do see at least two other WABC YT airchecks, from Nov. 28, 1980 and July 1970, have the full songs playing. Did these good people/posters, willing to share them with us for our enjoyment, agree to pay copyright licensing fees to like BMI and AFSCAP so they could have the full songs heard? I am also aware that on-air talent, for like job-searching purposes, will provide "scoped" airchecks that have the full songs erased, to save time. But I'm pretty sure this January 1969 recording was home-recorded.
