These cars were way ahead of their time. Half a century has passed and this 'Cuda does not look the least bit dated.

I wish they still made cars like this, born in 71 I grew up at the tail end of the Muscle car era and saw these cars daily in various states of condition. What a great time.

A friend of mine had one of these back in the 80's, you can tell an original by looking for the tow bars in the front which they came stock from the factory with and the windshield wipers was a option

When talking about drum brakes... My old 67 fastback Cuda used to have a non original 318, but did have original 4 wheel drums - was annoying to drive thru a low water bridge and have to readjust the brakes the next day - they moved out when would get partially submerged. Lol

Awesome《☆》I just saw one on Lou Costables channel the other day. The hood bow was a bit more pronounced on it. I figure that the intake seal mating to the hood must be the culprit🤓☻🤠

I had one, it's the springs on the hood that make it bow. I took mine off and it flattened right out.

Yeah when I had my 1970 SE challenger I wasn't looking back barracudas any more not even for a dream car that dodge had built that I was building my challenger up to road racing 5 speed small block road racers....I was offered a authentic AAR CUDA with a lot of delete stuff which by today would make it CV even more rare in short the wife was gonna drive it too so floor shift gone also the customer like d the hood it was the flat black they didn't like plus that open gorgeous AAR hood was open to rain not good for every day so a poorly paint ed four barrel hood was installed and that super expensive six pack hood when up in the attic at the dealership 1500 dollars and I passed on it I had 1970 SE Challenger so I wasn't going back to a barracuda no matter what but I didn't know what TAs an AAR s were back then....they were already what I was building on my own my way...I put 255 50 15 BFGs radials on the back an lowered the car I did not know about AAR s having 440 big block suspension already for less body roll....i bought a AAR cuda 727 an installed it myself removing the 3 speed manual boat anchor an I even put the slap stick floor in with a grand coupe shifter in my challenger.....oh my god was that transmission bad ass I could not imagine how mean the whole car would be..... My friend who had the delete car...I was told took non believers out to prove the car really was a AAR CUDA an when the occupants came back they were white and new underwear on.....hah hah....shall I hang around for the price or just start crying now
@bultacowally
@bultacowally 4 жыл бұрын
No... AAR's nor T/A's did not have big block suspension. They had the .940 Dia. Small block torsion bars and special re-arched rear leaf springs specifically designed for the T/A and AAR. And believe it or not the 3 speed manual trans you referred to as a "boat anchor" was a very little known 340 go fast part recommended by Chrysler Corp. themselves back in the day...Suppose to have been the best trans for a 340.

The only thing I found was everyone looks about how the 6 pack carbs were hard to keep tuned all it was that after market linkage was the trick for racers like me but with 410 horsepower u ain't worrying about that....and it has 4:10 posi unit rear end...u ain't got to worry about performance issues with this car....the funny thing is this the model for the formula of today's challenger s in 2009 forwards this has a small block the 340 was called the little hemi 300 hp x heads 410hp in this bad boy....

The 3 Holly 2 barrel carbs use the rods to return the secondary carbs. They are vacuum secondary. So no real tuning except to take the solder out of the idle needles to smooth the idle out.

Yeah the build numbers on TAs AAR CUDAS was mandatory 8000 each cudas and 8000 challenger s split half automatic s and half 4 speed cars that was what I heard but may be they actually built less but yes SUBLIME....SORRY a Limelight green car there was probably only a few that would make this factory colored one more rare.....I dont know of the TAs AAR s cudas did dodge not build the numbers I was told...either way this is a bad boy original people dont realize how much authentic race upgrade s are worth from a performance stand point race motors just do everything better when it comes to driving....nice thing was dodge had looks and paint that was ahead of its time.....
@bultacowally
@bultacowally 4 жыл бұрын
OMG you are STILL AT IT!!!!!! MANDATORY build number was 500. Total AAR's...2724 were built. T/A Challenger not as sure somewhere around 2400. Certainly wasn't a 50/50 split on the auto/manual trans thing either. You are like 0 for 10 here...give it up!!! Hey Forest you stupid or somethin'???

One of the reason I like the AAR over my beloved TA is I like the cudas stripes better over my beloved challenger s......I'm not sure when dodge raced TRANS AM I believe the race team only ran cudas challenger's were only 137 pounds heavier and a couple of inches longer wheel base may be two inches over the cudas .....thanks I think my eyes are hurt from the sun just kidding

What year are the T/A Challengers and the AAR 'cudas??? 1970 right??? So that would make it the year that Dodge and Plymouth raced factory Trans Am. Next you will tell us all Richard Petty drove the MOPAR Trans Am cars...and once again you would be WRONG. Not doing to good with your MOPAR Trans Am knowledge...

You know key buzzer was nothing like today's annoying bongs....plus its turn its self off.....one thing I miss was my challenger's courtesy lights soft light green glowing door key holes key on the Column lit up once u were in just enuf so u could find ignition key hole....and then after 30 seconds or so they faded off perfect not like today's disrespectful car builders.....Chrysler was into making cool an tinted glass for AC equipment cars.....
