Looks like a pretty nice retrofit to me. And it was a lot easier to leave the old panel box in place and do it the way you did it for sure. Thanks for sharing brother.

Very nice work I enjoyed it. Is it possible to do this with a split bus panel because that’s what I have. Unless I have to replace the entire panel or add a sub panel 👍

Thanks it's tough to get it all lined up using the original metal cabinet. but easier than ripping the whole wall apart and usually damage wires in the presses.

Good idea to change the guts rather than the entire panel. Did you have to have an inspector take a look?

Its easier to change the guts out than rip the whole wall apart,plus the wires usually get damaged that way. no permit or inspections cash deal love these jobs, wish I could do one every day, lol.

What specifically was flagged in the old panel. The basics seem the same in the simplest terms; power comes in, through the breakers, to the house, back to the panel and out. As a non electrician what specifically was no longer acceptable.

This swap out would never pass inspection. Only time you can swap inner panel boards in existing cabinet is if they are same manufacturer and model and it says so inside the cabinet which panel boards it will accept. The customer was taken for a ride on this one and his insurance would not pay if electrical fire/damage resulted because of this non-approved swap out.
