@@philliptrammell6206 And I get lambasted for going the "liquid" paint route. As long as I am happy with the end result that is all that matters, mine are my own toys anyways. I mean I was the one that scratched and dented them while playing. Each scratch is a good memory for me.

Ahhh...I had this one growing up. I remember it getting so rusty. I wish I still had it so I could restore just like you did. I wonder where it ended up. Maybe the one you restored IS mine. I hope so - it deserves it. Thank you for these videos. To me, they are more than just an interesting activity; more than just an OCD fix. This video, in particular, was a time portal for me. I remember exact moments playing with this toy. I remember it shiny and I remember it rusty and the dirt and the sun and the sandbox. So, this video isn't about polishing a physical object, it's about polishing memories. And, what great memories for me. Thank you! And....a message out to my Dad. I'm sorry I didn't take care of my toys when I was young. I didn't know any better. - and thank you for not getting upset about that.

Nicely done... very impressed!👍 I have the same Tonka grader with a couple of minor differences, most likely a different year. Mine has the finer tread pattern on the tires and there are a couple of bent tabs at the top front corners of the cab with amber plastic inserts to mimic flashing lights. Like any toy they made changes from time to time and surprisingly enough mine still has the oval Tonka decals on both sides of the cab which are still very vivid with color.

I get the decals at toydecals.com. The original rivets are 1/8 x 1/8 compression rivets. The tool for those is impossible to find. Use small pop rivets. The axle caps are available at any hardware store. Take the axle with you to be sure you get the correct size.
