Hi, I have 2 old tonka toys, would you be interested in them?
@RustyShepherd19 күн бұрын
Maybe. What models are they?
@MartinSessions19 күн бұрын
One is the Tonka front loader and the other one is a backhoe / front loader

Yeah, that’s Stryker. He unfortunately crossed over the rainbow bridge early this year. He was 14. He had cancer in his lungs. He was an awesome pup! He’s was cremated, my father has his ashes in an urn next to his chair. Stryker was his buddy. 🐺❤️
@johnthomsen880227 күн бұрын
@@RustyShepherd I am so sorry. I had two and absolutely loved them. They were brother and sister. My two were cremated and are in their favorite spot on my parents' property.

How did you get the burner out I’m trying to restore one and the burner is really stuck
@RustyShepherd2 ай бұрын
I soaked the burner with wd40 several times. Then I kept prying on it little by little until it broke loose.

Hi Rusty, I have one of these gumball machines that my grandfather gave me about 8 years ago. Sadly he is no longer able to tell me anything about it and I need help getting it back into working order. Where did you get the globe and gasket? I ordered a new globe but mine won’t go on easily like yours. I’m not even sure if the machine works.
@RustyShepherd5 ай бұрын
All the parts were sent to me by the owner. I don’t remember where I got the gasket. I think I looked up gumball machine replacement parts online, and found one that fit the diameter of this one. I hope you get yours working soon! Thanks for watching, and the comment. ❤️

@sunestuds8 ай бұрын
Hi. Did you use regular rivets to mount the parts together? 🤔
@RustyShepherd8 ай бұрын
I did use regular pop rivets. I hadn’t found a tool to use compression rivets yet. I eventually found one. I used the correct compression rivets on some builds after this when, when I could get the tool to fit. Some places it wouldn’t fit, so I had to use pop rivets a few other times.

I think this is a 1975 model if I am not mistaken.
@davydigger7088 ай бұрын
This is actually not from the 70's, it was made between 1983 and 1986. Just so you know.
@davydigger7088 ай бұрын
Hey, I was just wondering - was this one made in USA, Mexico, or China? I can tell it was made somewhere between 1997 and 2012. It's hard to tell the exact year because the only real changes made were the stickers, and the original ones were long gone! They were changed in 2005, and again in 2007, and maybe one more time? Also, those are actually the wrong stickers - the cab ones you put on there are 1995-96 stickers, and the ones on the excavator cab are 1983-91 stickers. But it still looks cool with those - I actually think they look better than the correct stickers for this truck!

Looking for inspiration to go fiddle with my old lanterns. Thanks, I'm on my way. A couple of tips if I may. One, grease the wick before inserting. I just pinch a dab of axle grease into the first inch or so. Two, paint. I've been using automotive engine enamel on mine with good results. No primer, just paint. A cool color to try is old Pontiac blue. Metallic powder blue.

@@RustyShepherd the car I found is the same as this one the years of corrosion and waves has almost completely removed the yellow paint and replaced it with a thin layer of rusty sand the rubber parts are all in almost perfect condition It has functional wheels even The abrasion from the sand is so bad the tonka printed on the bottom is now flat metal It almost looks 100 years old But that’s what 20 or so years of water damage does I was very pleased to find this video of a better condition one thanks for posting it

I’d keep that one in that condition, and display it on a mantle or somewhere. They don’t make toys like that anymore. 👍🏻
