I was 12 that year and remember how the heterosexual majority, even many liberals regarded the Gay Rights cause as some sort of freak show. Gay was considered a choice, and part of the "way out" landscape of big city life. It took courageous people like these to overcome the repression and the pejoratives. I am so grateful for what was done.

Give credit to the very brave gay white men who were the real pioneers of the modern gay rights movement. As one who grew up during these times, I have to balk at today's LGBT community who worry over cupcakes and flowers when I had people waiting to beat me up after school. I was sexually harassed by police, rejected by my family, threatened to be run off the road on the highway, and someone even tried to kill me. So, again, forgive me if I chuckle at today's self centered queens who "don't remember when". Additionally, with the advent of technology like "Grindr", we have become something horrible and debase. I would love to get a group of gay youth from 18 to 30 yrs old and force them to watch this and the other films you have here. Millions of LGBT people today don't even remember when AIDS first came out and the countless friends and loved ones I and others lost. Sorry. I could rant on but I will end it here. Thank you for the videos.

I know people who were gay bashed on their way out of a gay bar. I remember when 4 high school students murdered a gay man and serve no time, paid no fine and were not given probation. What they whine about today is an unfunny joke.

Eric Fraize Thanks for the enlightening words, my dear friend. As one who is LGBT during these times, part of my thought process on this is that it’s hip to be lgbt. Some people lie about their identity to fit in, but you shouldn’t lie about who you are. Also, it’s really awkward when people ask me three times a day what pronouns I should be called. Unless I was non-binary, I couldn’t care less.

To all who marched and spoke, and openly came out to raise awareness, at a time where doing so was dangerous....
