I was 12 that year and remember how the heterosexual majority, even many liberals regarded the Gay Rights cause as some sort of freak show. Gay was considered a choice, and part of the "way out" landscape of big city life. It took courageous people like these to overcome the repression and the pejoratives. I am so grateful for what was done.

It is a choice. No different than choosing chicken or beef. There's no scientific proof backing that it isn't a choice. No legitimate person give a shit about it though.

I'm grateful to live in a time in the U.S.A. where I have lived through this part of our social history. I grew up in the 70's and 80's, dated a lot in the 90's, began a committed relationship beginning in 2000 and married this amazing person in 2015 when it became legally recognized. Thanks to all of those men and women who spoke out for gay and lesbian rights in America in the past. So grateful.

Give credit to the very brave gay white men who were the real pioneers of the modern gay rights movement. They organized the first pride parade in 1970 and endured jeers, insults and violence, the loss of employment, arrest. They are all gone, society's power has shifted. All the LGBTQ people stand on the shoulders of giants.

@@edbenti5007 Your comment is extremely racist and Euro-centric. Have you not heard of two spirited-berdache people in Native America? As one who grew up during these times, I have to balk at today's LGBT community who worry over cupcakes and flowers when I had people waiting to beat me up after school. I was sexually harassed by police, rejected by my family, threatened to be run off the road on the highway, and someone even tried to kill me. So, again, forgive me if I chuckle at today's self centered queens who "don't remember when". Additionally, with the advent of technology like "Grindr", we have become something horrible and debase. I would love to get a group of gay youth from 18 to 30 yrs old and force them to watch this and the other films you have here. Millions of LGBT people today don't even remember when AIDS first came out and the countless friends and loved ones I and others lost. Sorry. I could rant on but I will end it here. Thank you for the videos.

I couldn't agree more. I was 17 in '82 and found out about 'gay cancer' from an story in Blueboy magazine. I lost people really close to me from AIDS. They are whining over bullshit today. I know people who were gay bashed on their way out of a gay bar. I remember when 4 high school students murdered a gay man and serve no time, paid no fine and were not given probation. What they whine about today is an unfunny joke.

Eric Fraize Thanks for the enlightening words, my dear friend. As one who is LGBT during these times, part of my thought process on this is that it’s hip to be lgbt. Some people lie about their identity to fit in, but you shouldn’t lie about who you are. Also, it’s really awkward when people ask me three times a day what pronouns I should be called. Unless I was non-binary, I couldn’t care less.

Imagine if we could go back in time and tell the homophobic interviewers that gay marriage would one day be legal, and equality had made big strides... Oh how great it would be to have a time machine to tell them, and even more importantly to thank all LGBT who campaigned so very hard for equality, still away to go, with homophobia still being a big issue, but things have changed thanks to the very brave people who fought for they're and our rights. To all who marched and spoke, and openly came out to raise awareness, at a time where doing so was dangerous.... I say thank you from the bottom of my heart, the world is a far better place because of you ❤️💛💜💙💚

I agree, America is on the decline. But that is 100% because people live paycheck to paycheck, can't afford food, can't afford healthcare. Rent is too d@mn high as well. There are a billion and one things wrong with America and it IS on the decline, for sure. But none of it has to do with two consenting adults making love. Don't be ridiculous.

Oh, to have lived during the Golden Age of the '70s! Quaaludes, cocaine, disco, & all the sex you could handle. Of course the bill came due in the '80s, but for a while it must've been magical :D

Marko Antonio you're right, there shouldn't be an issue for homosexuality being legal. In fact homosexual rights could be legal for all nations. A long as they stay persecuted, we're all good.
