I washed a vintage Belstaff Trialmaster once and destroyed it. Water stains and marks with an uneven clean all over. I would caution against it, perhaps a light wipe down with some warm soapy water on the areas of concern? Also worth thinking about when washing a vintage piece like this is it not only strips all the wax off, it also strips a bit of the character it has built up over the years with the history of its use that makes it look how it does now, and what drew you to it to start with. I am by no means a die hard on maintaining Barbour originality or part of any kind of anti-wash brigade, it's just how I see it. Ultimately it's your bag (a lovely one at that) and what you do with it will forge the next part of it's journey and history. Enjoyed the video and walk through of it, something I will now look out for too.

You make valid point. I've left the bag as is for now, as wearing it in the rain and using it daily has helped the grease comes off slightly.

Hi how about a Barbour Lutz Wax Jacket Review? I read your blog online but didn’t see much depth other than the complaint about the lining. I’m thinking on getting it as an alternative to the Barbour Beacon Sports Coat

is that top flap hollow? if so would it not be possible that something was slip through it, like a walking cane or something long like that. not into hunting or anything but worth a guess

hi, love your reviews, got lots of Barbour stuff myself including bags. However i have been in touch with Barbour and enquired about replacement bag liners only to be told they not only cannot replace the liners but do no repairs for any of their bags. I found this both shocking and disappointing for such an iconic British company.
