Thank you so much for the video! I believe that voice was By Saam. doing the announcing. My dad and I actually met him on the subway It was so great to see the vet when she first opened up I started going in 1977 with my dad . in 1971 you can see some of the players that will play a role in getting us a championship in 1980 I was very fortunate to go to game 2 of the 1980 World Series and to share it with my dad! You could say what you want about the horrible turf at the vet but it was that same turf that after 96 years Championship champagne was spilled on. I lost my dad in 2001 I was lucky enough to get tickets to the final games at the vet. Before the game I visited the seats that my dad and I sat at it said one final goodbye! The Phillies and our all-time favorite Harry kalas did an absolutely wonderful job saying goodbye to an old friend. I was so passionate about the vet that I couldn't watch them implode Stadium but before going to the new Citizens Bank Park I went over to the parking lot that was the vet stood at home plate gave Thanks for the Memories that all of us share

In the first part of the video the announcer was Harry Kalas, in his first year as Phillies announcer, and Richie Ashburn. Kalas was the place by play announcer until he passed away in 2009, ironically on Opening Day for the Phillies in Washington DC

@@ross7825 The first voice you hear is from Byram Saam. The first time you hear Harry is the the the first hit at the vet by Bowa.

Tony Taylor with the final putout, he joined the Detroit Tigers a couple months later and was the fill-in second baseman in the '72 ALCS, with Dick McAuliffe taking over for an injured Eddie Brinkman at short (a ruptured disc took out Eddie, not the big wad of tobacco he would work). Taylor lived to be 84, passing in 2020.

I was at the game, age 10. The only parts I remember are the home-run,, and that the Phllies won in a low scoring game. But I would have sworn it was Mike Schmidt that hit the home run. Obviously a faulty memory.... Now that I have pondered it a bit, I think it was the 1973 opening day game that Schmidt hit a very similar just inside the foul pole home run to win the game, and the 2 similar home runs, both by 3rd basemen, got conflated in my head.
