The AI upscaling software isnt meant to do that, and (im pretty sure) mainly focuses on making an image sharper. Its kinda like a filter, you cant really slap it on and call it a day.

i've seen much more impressive restorations. I've seen AI that can recognize printed vs handwritten text and appropiately restore it. as in, the text at the end telling you to "ask your agent" would be replaced with perfect printed text instead of just sharpened into blob letters. this is a blanket AI with little to no insights programmed in. This industry is orders of magnitudes larger and more complex than I think you've even begun to consider. This is a (relatively) terrible, amateur-grade rendition of a world-leading technology being developed every day. I think 1nonlypiuneer was just referring to industry-leading AI models that could make this look like a python script.@@ripnob

When putting it back on they smashed the pylon right into the socket and just bolted it on like that. Complete and utter negligence caused the DC-10s bad reputation

The people who call the DC 10 is pretty much a person that just knew aviation just a minute ago. Just because DC 10 has many crashes. Doesn't mean it is a death chamber. Its pretty much to call of a "luck" than judging its crash rate. Also. DC 10 was widely used (i think) in the 1990s where crashes were kinda often. Its litteraly a very old aircraft. The L-1011, the competitor of the DC-10, only had 9 noteworthy accidents and incidents, many of which were not as a result of its design. The Concorde, which was also a similar time period aircraft, had only 1 crash, ironically as a result of a piece of a DC-10 falling off and breaking one of its tires, which later flung itself into an engine. With so many other examples of safe and excellent aircraft in that time period, you can't exactly argue that it was expected to be unreasonably safe.

They are American 96, united 232, and Turkish 981. These are the only accidents not caused by pilot error. So, what’s your point right now? Did the 747 not have these same issues? @@reactive435 I guess I could say this; it was those greedy, cold-hearted engineers at McDonnell Douglas that created this nightmare. I've read multiple reports about the DC-10 throughout the years, and there are documents proving that the engineers at McDonnell Douglas KNEW BEFORE the plane ever flew it's first flight, that the cargo door was faulty, but they let it fly anyway. American Flight 96 was fortunate to have the skills of Captain Bryce McCormick when the cargo door blew out over Windsor , Canada without a fatality. An 'airworthiness directive' should have been sent out, making it mandatory to redesign the cargo door, instead, McDonnell Douglas pulled some strings and got it downgraded to a service bulletin, which is not as urgent. The plane that operated Turkish Airlines flight 981, was supposed to have had the upgraded door but it didn't. After it crashed, documents showed that someone at McDonnell Douglas signed off, on the paperwork stating that the door was fixed. Even to this day, there are arguments on both sides; was the paperwork fraudulently signed? Or was it an honest over-sight ? Either way, 346 people died because someone didn't do what they should have done. It was also well known that McDonnell Douglas built the plane at a time that they were facing the threat of bankruptcy. A lot of corners were cut during production, especially in the face of competition from Lockheed and it's L-1011 Tristar. Whenever a crash or incident happened, the underlying cause, always seemed to be traced back to design flaws . With Flight 191 in Chicago, it's true that American used a dangerous and unauthorized maintenance practice, that cracked the pylon bulkhead, eventually leading to the engine falling off. Again McDonnell Douglas came under scrutiny when the investigation discovered, that when the engine ripped away, it severed all the warning systems and because of that, the pilots unwittingly stalled the plane and it crashed. Turns out, that there were no back-up warning systems installed in the plane. Had there been back-ups, a stall warning and slat disagreement warning, would have alerted the pilots to a stall and they could have brought the plane back for an emergency landing. So the way I look at it, McDonnell Douglas has plenty of blood on it's hands. You were right that it wasn't the plane's fault because they can only do what they're programmed to do but it is the fault of the people who designed it. Like I said, I like to read and study things indepth, so I Googled: 'McDonnell Douglas DC-10.' And just about every incident and crash is documented. There are videos and even official reports from the F. A . A and National Transportation Safety Board. So if you want the FULL story, then I would urge you to Google it and read all the stories and reports. I was shocked at what I read and the blatant disregard by so many executives, towards the safety of passengers and flight crews.
