Mine ‘73 Granada Red. Toaster tank. Low bars. Headlight mounted horns. Bar end mirrors. Owned it 40 years and then my MD said no more. Now it’s gone to a good home.

What a beautiful description of a beautiful bike. Keep her as original as possible an let her show her age. Rusty bolts and saggy "upholstery" add to her beauty, keep her as she is. Thanks for shearing.

I owned a 1971 R60/5, the first '71 to arrive in the shop I was dealing with. It was Bill's Cycle Shop and I think it was in Canastota, NY....probably long out of business. It was a great machine and I had it equipped with a handlebar dog bone to move them back a little, a luggage rack, a Califia fairing, Wixom bags and an Ez Berg saddle. Yep, I loved it.

I inherited a r75/5 and a r69 from my father, the r69 was stolen just before i take it back from the street where it was parked and the r75/5 is now renovated and has a lovely sound

I had the pleasure of access to this exact bike in the 70s when I was a teenager. My stepdad had one. I used to sneak it out and pick my girlfriend and we would ride everywhere. Good times.

I had exactly the same bike for 10 years and 160,000 kms. In that time I replaced a diode pack. I had a Windjammer 111 with lowers and Krauser bags. Great machine.

Nice bike! Nice details! Very original except the mufflers, but even this is ok on a used bike from this period as the original mufflers were not available all times. Mine is exactly from the same time, but a german model.(Km/h and no side-reflectors) See the details: left mirror mount (there was no right mirror originally) smooth leather on seats with two handles, there was no side cover in 71, even the slightly different headlamp-paint is original! note the hinge of the tank-cap is in front. the 71 model still had the short wheelbase that was sometimes a little bit tricky at high speed. Please, dont restore it, simply replace the rusty screws and bolts, install correct mufflers, and everything is good!

I love that idle--less than 800 rpm, and the engine gently shakes side to side, if you've got it tuned up right.

When the man wrote off I could tell it was only running on one cylinder needs to synchronize the carburetors another thing I noticed the rear shocks were set on the softer setting should be said to the hardest setting

Correct. The bike needs a tune up. Could also be there is 1 in front of the 16…

I got mine in March of ‘73 in Munich. Racked up 12,000 miles in 101 days. Flew it back to NYC and rode it home to California. I rode it for another three years and sold it when we decided to have children. I chose that bike because I was a scofflaw who liked to exceed the posted speed limit. Quiet bikes were really rare and the cops, even the CHP, never ticketed me. Nice bike.

I am restoring one exactly like this one. i wish mine was this mint to start with. Mine has been a money pit. Oh BTW they never came with the chrome side panels back then.

Very nice video. I just bought a 73 toaster tank model with 31K miles. Almost as nice as this one.
@ElBrooklyn14 жыл бұрын
I’ve got a 72 toaster. You got a nice find! But I think the tank and fenders have been repainted, otherwise they’d match the slightly dull paint of the headlight bucket and frame. Also, that’s probably a new chrome ring around the lamp, otherwise it’d have the same scarring that’s only the bucket. My bike had the same thing when I bought it in 1991: repainted tank and front fender, original headlight, frame and rear fender.

Eh this video ruined me. I love old simple ridable bikes. Was never a fan of the Harleys or the Ninjas, always liked the Royal Enfields till I saw this bike. Holy Moly it's beautiful in all ways. The sound, the looks and just the feel of a real bike. Very nice

The '71 R75 did not have side covers from the factory. Toaster tank bikes did, LWB bikes did, but this bike was a SWB with no covers.
