I bet your child will have lots of fond memories of road trips riding in all of these classic buses they will probably want to drive one of those when she at the age to drive.

I love an old school bus, they have so much history, and a story to tell. Your bus runs and sounds better than my 2021 bus.

They still use these in the Rural areas of WA state

A lot of the Crowns I rode on in high school were from the 60's and 70's. Some had Hall Scott engines, the one I used to love to listen to running.

Runs sweetly with an almost complete absence of rattles.

Crown seems to have been one of the old-style quality over quantity-type companies. It doesn't keep you in business, but dang, you can't deny they've got style.
@drh3b Жыл бұрын
@@jessebrook1688 Crown dominated Southern Cal for decades. I grew up in Westminster(Orange County, CA) in the Seventies, and most school busses and fire trucks were Crowns. Supposedly the sturdiest and most reliable busses ever.

Those school buses were seen mainly in the Pacific states of the USA many years ago...a lot of them had Detroit Diesel power!

There were about 10 former Grossmont Crowns in service for a couple of years in Sherwood, Oregon for a company called School Bus N Charter (or something similar). One was a two axle Detroit, the rest were three axle Cummins. When the company went belly up they went to a local business owner who had loaned money. I'd lay odds this was one of them.

Crazy seeing this bus! That school district is where I went to high school! The bus # was replaced by a 2001 Bluebird All American still in service today.

Hi my aunt Melissa and my aunt Kate they were just married in July 2021 and cousin Silas all live in Portland Oregon where this bus probably was from. Never seen this style of bus before I didn't know there was a crown School bus. In my area upstate New York Syracuse I think we have bluebird flat nose buses I see buses and safety liner buses I've never seen any of the buses that you have on your channel before other than on your channel except for I think the flat nose bus I think you said it was the building trade class bus that went out on job sites and had a couple of seats removed out of it I did recognize that bus but I don't really recognize all the other buses on your channel. That's awesome you said you wanted to get a crown and I think a gillig if I'm correct so you did it you got a crown now you got to search for the gillig bus. Well hope your museum goes well and you can preserve all the buses you want to preserve for museum quality keep up the good work can't wait to see videos of your museum whenever you get it going.

You don't need to use all the gears. Start in 2nd, shift to 4th, pull up the button and pull it down to the granny gear position that is now 6th gear-then go through the gears normally.

I don’t think I could handle being a bus driver if I had to deal with that transmission and 90 kids, but obviously people did it back in the 70s

Because Crowns were never in service east of the Rockies, I would NOT mind finding one that is capable of being restored to as-running-condition and actually converting to a PGCPS-style Crown (if I ever hit the PCH or Lotto).
@FirstEliminator2 жыл бұрын
I grew up in south Florida going to the Broward County School System. In the early 80's I remember only one time of riding on a Crown. It was memorable because I recognized it had the same look as the fire trucks on the TV show Code Red. So they were at least a few east of the Rockies.

How do you get the money for all the buses I want a 2010 bluebird vision and put a cummins x15 and a 10 speed auto in high school
@TommyRetro4 жыл бұрын
A-Dog I find the acquisition of the historic buses by reselling the later model buses, usually to people building tiny homes.

The low scrap value, plus extensive labor to take them apart. Better to abandon them.
