This documentary should have mentioned the OLMECS. The oldest civilization of the Americas. Also the Olmecs invented the concept of the number zero. Mexicans are Native American Not Indians. Indians are found in South East Asia in a country called India. Remember! We Did Not Cross The Border The Border Crossed Us! Why?? Because we Mexicans were already here in what is now the USA. Viva the Chicano Movement/Moratorium! Viva la raza! PS: The Sun Stone or the Aztec Calendar was found in 1790 and when the USA soldiers invaded Mexico City ( Tenochtitlan) they target practice shooting on the sun stone damaging it and disfiguring the face.🇲🇽 PS: Kisses to you in heaven Don Ricardo Montalban.❤

Great film to boost Chicano self esteem in a time when discrimination was rampant. The only thing we looked forward to was working the fields. Not because we didn’t try getting something better but because that’s where we were sent. How times have changed. There are good people and bad people no matter what color. There is always that good person that breaks discriminatory practices and opens doors. I met a few along the way but met many more of the opposite. Nevertheless, I didn’t give up like so many who became disillusioned and bowed to a life of crime or poverty. I wonder if the main character made it out of his oppressive times.

I grew up in the 50's, and 60's in Boyle Heights, a predominately Mexican neighborhood. All of my school mates were Japanese and Chinese. All of my classes were geared towards College so we had 1 Mexican and 1 Black. The Mexican married a Japanese girl and became an engineer for Standard Oil, his wife became a nurse. Though the Chicano activists complained there was no Mexican representation and protested, the School assigned a Mexican Principal to our High School. Guess what? He was tougher than the White Principal and they complained again!!! There was no Japanese or Chinese representation. The difference were having parents who expected you to do the best!

@rickuyeda4818 You grew up in Boyle Heights?? While I myself am White / Anglo... I grew up down in south Texas and along side with my peers and fellow classmates many of whom were Mexican-Americans (aka... "Tejanos"). And one of my /our favorite movies was (and is), of course, "Blood In - Blood Out". And one of my favorite scenes is when Miklo first arrives home in East Los Angeles when he came back from Las Vegas... and as he's making his way thru the various neighborhoods (or, "Barrios") on his way back home... he stops at the mural of the Virgin de Guadalupe where he has his flashback memory of his abusive father. I've been on a number of pages that are devoted to "BIBO" and the other members have explained that that mural is (or was once) found in a neighborhood either in Boyle Heights or in City Terrace... but sadly, it is no longer there... as that concrete structure that the image of the Virgin Mary appears on has long since been torn down and removed. Did any of those scenes from those various barrio neighborhoods in Boyle Heights, City Terrace and else where in East LA look familiar to you?? Thanks in advance!!💯
