When I was 19 back in 1983 I was a Chevy guy, until I went to look at a 70 R/T 383Magnum!As I approached the car from the back and saw four chrome exhaust tips sticking out through the valance panel and full lengh tail lights and walking around the side of the car seein 1971 tail stripe and upper body R/T stripes, white on B5 medium metallic with white bucket seat/ console - slap stick automatic and then what really blew me away was seeing that bulg hood, hood pins 383Magnum on the sides of the mean as hell hood scoops and then the beautifully mean ass grill! Good bye Camaro, Chevelle etc.!! I bought that car and a 73 318 challenger and had to put the R/T hood, grill wheels etc.on the 73 as the 79 R/T had been undercoated right over the salt from Pa winters! The entire car was held together with bondo! But someone was awesome with that bondo cuz it looked great 😅 still think about how I was moved by the racecar look and beauty of the 70 challengers! Wish I could have another 79 or 71 R/T!! Thiught I'd share a little nostalgia with you!

These cars drive and handle great, funny thing you have to get used to them for people who are not used to old cars...I can fly around corners and basically drive it the same speed around corners/canyon roads as newer performance cars...Each car has its own feel and line you need to take in the road... I had a 70 Challenger RT 440 Magnum 4bbl and ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile, this car was stock I only tuned it up,adjusted timing and replaced the 750 carter with a 850 carter carb.. Old standard transmissions are different than modern ones, but once you know you can really hammer them upshift, downshift and powershift!

If those two cars were same price I would pick this vintage Dodge Charger. The exhaust note sounds really good and it goes about as fast a C5 Corvette in the quarter mile. The 390hp rating is correct for 69-70 440-6bbl cars, for 71 440-6bbl cars the rating was 385hp. This car has a 440-4bbl which would have been rated at 370hp stock for 1971... except Challengers weren't even available with the 440-4bbl anymore. This engine obviously isn't stock so why bother quoting an HP rating at all? Excuce me?? At approximately 6:40 you can see the shift knob with the pattern. 1-2-3-4-5-R This symbol (5) is the number five. Which indicates a 5 speed transmission. And since there was a clutch pedal and a manual shifter. This was in fact a 5 speed manual. Your comment confuses me? Unless it's the wrong shift knob. But I'm used to new cars, so perhaps in 1971, way before I was born they put wrong shift knobs on, or its aftermarket. I'm not old enough to remember when these were at dealers.

Also it's not a huge muscle car it's sort of the midsize muscle car AKA Pony car which is actually for me the ideal size because the Charger and GTX and Coronets are massive four-door cars with two doors...... so yeah the Challenger RT has my vote and you're not forking out 200,000!
