Oh my goodness. Music to my ears. I had a Datsun 1600 years ago that had this crazy lump rally camp in it and it actually sounded like a rotary when idling.

Nah different car. ANIL8 is still around. Saw it the other day out west Auck. It's on black steelies still has the Trapp and is still 10a Bridgey ❤️ same owner too

@@West13bMazdaRotariesNZ I had mixed opinions, some say the belt isn't supposed to whine and others say yeah it is. What's your opinion?

@@White_Night_Demon they Def don't need to whine. But a lot of people like, or used to like the sound of that whine by doing them up tight. I personally don't run them. Both my cars just run single V Belts. I find the engine feels nicer and revs more freely with a V belt vs a tight gilmer. So much so that I'm sure the gilmer must rob a bit of power. I have also heard that if you do them too tight you can wear excessively on your front stat gear bearing. So yeah for me it's a no to the gilmer. But each to their own. They are def not as popular as they used to be 10 years ago 😃

@@West13bMazdaRotariesNZ Yeah I went on some random car forum and some people were arguing over each other, unless one of them was trolling and baiting the others...hahaha I'm guessing that front stat gear bearing is expensive to replace? Yeah I went to chat with a guy at a performance workshop and they said you only see them on the really high powered muscle/drag cars and rarely if at all on low powered street cars. Didn't mention anything about wearing the front stat gear bearing but did say it'd attract cops since it'd be sticking out your bonnet if you have a blower roots style supercharger stuck on your engine and driving casually down the street with it. I mean I wouldn't mine chucking that on my ratrod project build, depending how much they cost and whether or not it's doable...probably won't work on a small engine since they don't even use pulleys unless you chuck on a either a twin-screw or a roots type supercharger.... Trying not to blow that $1k budget otherwise it's no longer a ratrod build and I may as well start hotrodding the whole thing(Assuming I have over 10k to blow on all of this)! Hahaha

@@White_Night_Demon Def required for a top style charger. They stop belt slip and therefor stop loss of boost and power. There is a few blown 13b and even 12a engines about. My mate had a blown 13b in his 323 hatch. Made nearly 400 hp and power was instant ====> kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHTckqOemMiEj5Y I say go for it!

There's engine builders who roll around through the night, targeting REs to be ported. This is another case here, and once your motor becomes victim to it, there's really no point in restoring it back. These builders are villainous I tell ya. Whew, thank God they never got to mine and left me with all that extra power to put up with 🙏 😂
