When I was a teen my old man, not knowing anything about snowmobiles, bought a 1969 Olympic. It ran but didn't even have the power to climb a hill. With some momentum it would get partially up a hill and then come to a stop and start to roll backwards. I found that the head bolts were all really loose and the diaphragm in that weird carb had a pin hole in it. Turned out to be surprisingly powerful when running right, enough to rip apart the track. Handling was ridiculously bad with those skis so close together. You had to steer mainly by riding on one knee and throwing around your body.

First sled was a ‘69 Olympic 320, was our family intro to snowmobiling in northern WI. Super dependable machine, could take 2 up adults while pulling a fiberglass dogsled with 3 kids! Put a ton of miles on that machine between touring and ice fishing, it was a workhorse. I think we paid $1,000 for the machine, sled and side by side trailer from Tomahawk Sports Center.

@rednecksdirtyhands dude when I was a kid our local junk yard had rare mustangs, cameros, etc etc. A guy like me or you could have made some serious cars and trucks with all those parts. There was acres of old s a yard body GM trucks. Acres of old dodges. Fords are picky. Shit gotta match. The old gm or dodges you could swap parts like crazy. Shit bolts right in.

Nice video guys! I still have my 75 tnt with the 340 that's the sister to that one, very similar. I've had it since probably the late 80s sometime, has gone through many a metamorphosis! On several occasions it's sat for many a year. Two seasons ago I pulled it out of the shed and revived her once again. Has always surprised me that it always has spark. Think it has duel points if I remember correctly. I've always had a problem finding a carb kit that matches the tillotson inlet needle, seat, and lever. The aftermarket ones I've found just don't have the quality. Any suggestions on a source? The cat design seems ions ahead of the doo for it's time.
