Bought mine new in '71 from the dealer I worked for in West Australia. I got one of only two gold ones imported into WA. The others were green/white. Good ride, but a bit flighty in the front end after 70 MPH until I uprated the fork springs. Made a world of difference. Could keep up with a Bonnie of the same vintage. I'd owned a Triumph Trophy before the Yam and it was ho-hum compared to the XS. This second model (with Ceriani-style forks) was called XS1f in Oz. Yeah, still wish I had it.

Bought a new one just like that in 1971. It was a fun bike with the typical twin torque. Wish I still had it.
