First ever visit to Elland Road at age 10, a family day out with mum, dad and my younger brother....although it was a long disappointing trip home afterwards after finding out that you can't win them all! They were the two best teams in the league though. Always appreciated Liverpool, but loved Leeds in those days!

Trouble with Leeds was they never renewed time after time like Liverpool did year after year. Don't Revie had his great team of 14 players that he was loyal too & couldn't break up, yes Jordan McQueen came in but Leeds sold them. Paisley was ruthless behind that genial facade & wouldn't hesitate to replace anyone with a future replacement. Dalqlish was the exception, he once had a period of about 3 months he hadn't scored yet never got dropped, anyone else up front would have been.

Shame about the echo on the commentary. The mighty reds won their first league title since the year of my birth,1966,in this season. Leeds won the League for the last time until 1992 the following season,73/74.

Just known as Football in those days. The change to The Kick Off match came in 1975.

The first professional match I watched was West Ham Vs Leeds a year later. It felt strange seeing all those players in real life when I was so used to seeing them on television. It ended with West Ham winning 3-1.

Remember those days well. Everyone at our primary school in North Wales back then supported Leeds or Liverpool. Made football games in the playground feisty affairs!😂

Jack charlton was the weak link in that side they had signed Roy Ellam from Huddersfield during the summer and he was a much more mobile centre half
@normanby100Күн бұрын
Jack was still formidable at this age. Ellam was out of his depth and Mcqueen proved his worth.

Leeds were the far better team on the day , Charlton was very unlucky .
