Just finished this job solo and while not for the faint of heart, definitely in the realm of do-able. Awesome step-by-step instructions, just take your time and go slow. Heating up the windshield adhesive that bonds the rubber to the glass in a zip-lock bag submerged in boiling water was a huge help to soften it otherwise I can guarantee you will snap the trigger off your caulking gun trying to get it out.

I'll be removing and reinstalling the windshield on my 1987 D150 that has rust along the drip rail over the windshield, Not sure if I'm going to be welding or doing some fiberglass work, but either way, the rust has to go. Great video, I actually believe I can handle this job now. Much appreciated.

Idk man my tech did not do all that sealant . And it has no leaks 2 yrs later

You don't necessarily need the sealant only rarely do we ever use it

I always start the top first. Seems to get the top corners in easier.

@@keenejunk697 You just have too work it in. Bottom to top, I finally got it in doing it the way they did. But it’s a massive pain, you’ll definitely need the ball end hook and somebody inside pushing the seal out too with one of those plastic sticks. Use lots of the glass cleaner, make sure you have a good grip on the ball end hook at all times as you’re using a ton of brute force on a slippery seal, be mindful of the edge of the glass. I honestly never want to do another, super hard to do 😂

James, we do install auto glass. We are a weatherstrip manufacturer showing how to install some of our products.

So do you need to insert the glas as long as the gasket adhesive is not hardened out or could I leave it sitting and install the glas later on?

You will install as soon as the gasket and sealant is applied. Just to be clear, the sealant that goes on the pinchweld is called bedding and glazing compound and never truly hardens. The sealant that goes in the glass channel is called urethane and that does harden.

@@Truu2it The urethane mostly helps against water leaks. You must put the lockstrip in to properly secure the windshield in the rubber.

Is the process the same for the rear window?

For the rear it's better to rope in the seal and glass together then work in the lockstrip. There's also a black version that doesn't take a lockstrip. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. [e-mail]
