Rudolph the red nosed reindeer was voice recorded in Canada and stop motion animated in Japan. Business decisions.

What I do is normally use my Digital 8 camcorder. I hook the camcorder to my PC using firewire cable. I then hook up my VCR to my digital 8 camcorder. The camcorder acts as a go between from the VCR to PC. I capture the footage using Pinnacle Studio and edit as I want. I also have a Hauppauge HD-PVR that I can use instead of the camcorder.

A lot of Rankin/Bass Cartoons were made in Japan by Toei Animation. So I guess you could say it is half anime. ;-)

I know that Carl Banas, who's listen in the credits, was in The Frog Prince as Sweetums, but as for the other voice actors in this film, I don't recognize any of them. They must be Canadian. I guess Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass were in Canada at the time. Either that, or their recording studio was near Canada and not there usual USA site.
@joecab1 Жыл бұрын
Yes a bunch of the voice actors based in Toronto worked for Rankin-Bass, and also the old 1960s Spider-Man cartoon: Paul Soles (Peter Parker/Spidey, Hermey), Billie Mae Richards (the boy in this cartoon as well as Rudolph), Carl Banas (Head Elf), Alfie Scopp (Percival, Charlie-in-the-Box), and Paul Kligman (J Jonah Jameson/Comet)
@vestonbruno2795 Жыл бұрын
@@joecab1 After watching this again, I immediately recognized Rudolph's voice in Peter, since it was Billie Mae Richards. Len Birman was Peter Piper, and Paul Soles was the ruthless King of the Gaddywine.

@michaelpalmieri73355 жыл бұрын
This show could never be made today, since a lot of people would consider it racist because of the Mantu character, who looks like a stereotyped evil "Yellow Peril" Oriental, reminiscent of Dr. Fu Manchu or Ming The Merciless from the Flash Gordon stories. The two children in this tale look like the kids from the "Frosty The Snowman" special, which is also a Rankin and Bass production.

And I forgot to mentioned, Classic Media is now DreamWorks Classics, if they're going to release the whole series on DVD, why not give all the pre-1974 Rankin/Bass stuff to either WB (where they still acquired the post-74 R/B holiday specials and shows including "Thundercats"), Mill Creek, that would be better or some company to have the rights to it.
@Musicradio77Network11 жыл бұрын
Never seen this one in a very long time, but I wish if Classic Media should release "Festival of Family Classics" the complete series on DVD, another one of the Rankin/Bass TV series produced outside of the holiday specials. Classic Media already released "The Jackson 5ive" animated series on DVD and Blu-Ray a few months back, but let's hope Classic Media should release the complete series on DVD and Blu-Ray in the future.

I've read 'A Christmas Tree,' and it was absolutely nothing like this cartoon (which is disappointing). Also, isn't it odd that the snow breathing dragon's name is Orlando, just like the city in Florida, aka one of the most hottest states in America all year long?
