This 1972 Chevrolet promotional film, titled " Chevrolet Recreational Vehicles ", was sent to the Chevrolet car dealerships to be used as an in-house Sales and customer training film. The film highlights technical aspects and features of the new model year. If you look up a different film I posted, titled "1974 Chevy Selling Monte Carlo ", you can see a rare glimpse of the film cartridge viewer that was used at the dealership where the customers and personnel were to view these films. The machine was made by Technicolor and called the " Chevrolet Mini Theater System "
This film came from my personal collection. This film was not downloaded from any website and is not reused content. This restoration is my work. The restoration process started with removing the super8 film from the Technicolor Cartridge. After removal the film was cleaned, repaired, and spooled onto a standard film reel. Next the scanning to digital process was performed on the Lasergraphics Scanstation motion picture film scanner in 2k resolution. This film was very red without almost no color left. The extensive color correction was performed in Davinci Resolve. Finally, the film was converted to MP4 format for uploading to KZbin.

This video was just shared to me by a friend. We are 53+ years in the RV business and this brings back so many memories and reminds me of how damn old I have gotten! If you'll allow me to address the question from a few about why no 454 option in the motorhome in 1972, although it had been introduced by that time. My thought is that the frame rails and front suspension had not adapted to the wider, much heavier 454, versus the 350. Keep in mind these RV's were purchased by the RV manufacturer from a chassis 'pool', using engines and transmissions that were often a full year old before the RV manufacturers built on the platforms. I recall Brougham RV's in the mid-70's were commonly built on 'new' two to three model year older Dodge chassis, when Chrysler was struggling to stay afloat. The RV chassis were generally a one-size fits-all in the low production numbers of the RV industry. Also, GM did have a habitual problem in their 454 equipped 'Class A' chassis because of the lack of air flow causing exhaust manifolds to crack and leak (that 'tick-tick' sound happened all the time). They really never seemed to adequately correct that problem until they introduced the 8.1 version in the early 2000's.

the newest chevy film I have from this series of films is 1980. they were produced until 1982 and that is when chevy switched from film to video tape. I am always looking for more of these and when they pop up, I have to buy them. just got a load back from digitizing, more coming soon.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen an El Camino pulling a 5th wheel. I’ve seen a VW bug with a roof mount ball hitch pulling a trailer. It’s a wild video. Look it up sometime.

I'm surprised the 454 wasn't standard in that motorhome. Not sure the 350 would do too well.

@@theemulsionalchemist5688 What was the process of transferring these to digital? It says "Technicolor Cartridge",, what was that format? Thanks and I enjoy your channel !
@theemulsionalchemist5688
@theemulsionalchemist5688 2 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I am getting this question a lot. I am planning on creating a video showing the process it takes. But to answer your question, the technicolor cartridge is a continuous loop design similar to an 8 track tape. Each cartridge can hold up to 30 minutes of super8 film. The player either projected the image onto a screen externally or onto a small rear projection screen. The machine looks like one of those TV/VCR combos. What I do is remove the film from the cartridge and spool it on a film reel for scanning. Most of these films get scanned on a Lasergraphics machine converting them to digital. Almost all of these films are pretty badly deteriorated with almost no color left. So with the correct software and some dedication the film can be digitally restored.
