The joys of the Holley 1920 carburetor. Nice car...I love those loss-leader models. Each dealer kept one or two of those around so that they could advertise "New 1972 Coronet as low as $2999!"

Definitely a rare bird and cool. The color is actually called "Dark Gold Metallic" and should have a "GY9" on the fender tag. I still have my 1972 Dodge Charger Rallye in the same color but has a 340 and automatic, 1 of 1075. I ordered it new and it came with the dog dish caps because I planned on putting Keystone Klassics on it which I did right after taking delivery. I'll bet yours is even more rare. Love your videos.

@JoeBritton-mw5yk6 ай бұрын
Clarification....Yes, sales code GY9 was used on Plymouths and referred to it as "Tawny Gold Metallic" and Dodge also used GY9 but referred to it as "Dark Gold Metallic". Chrysler paint number was AY270GY9 for both. When I'm asked what color my Charger is I just say it's dark brown.
@ObsoleteAutomotive6 ай бұрын
@@JoeBritton-mw5yk I didn’t read close enough. You still have the car? That’s awesome. Did you keep the original wheels and caps or did they get tossed out at some point? Also were the wheels painted body color?
@JoeBritton-mw5yk6 ай бұрын
Yes, I still have the car with original paint in fairly good condition except for a repaint in 1974 of front clip from hitting a horse (not at the race track)!! Unfortunately the wheels and "raised white letter" tires got used on other vehicles that I have since sold. From what I remember, I'm pretty certain the wheels were black, not body color. From your video it looks like the spare snow tire you have in the trunk is mounted on a b!ody color wheel? You might be able to determine if the wheel has some sort of code on it that may reflect the date??@@ObsoleteAutomotive
