I owned quite a bit of darts and scamps over the they were always cars no one else wanted. Now they are one of the more sought-after cars. I wish I still had them.

My dreamcar right now. Absolutely love em, wish I could get one soon. Reminds me of my grandfather's car. He actually had a Dodge Dart Deluxe, and I tried to find one, but I have no evidence they existed. Like, it said dart deluxe on the door panel, and it was a four door. It had a Mopar v 8 and that exact interior. I think it was one of those custom conversions that was common at the time, but I cannot find any evidence of it existing.

I had a '71 Olds Cutlass S back in the early 90's, couldn't roll that passenger window down unless I was stopped, I miss that big old beast. Showed your Dart to my brother-in-law who is in town visiting, he's a big Mopar guy. Drags a purple '70 Cuda, also has Dart he dropped a 440 in, and a Roadrunner I haven't seen yet. He knew instantly yours was a '71 or '72. Gotta love the old school muscle

that's awesome the difference between the 71 and 72 is the side markers are flush on the 71 and stick out a little on the 72 might be a few other things but that's how I tell

I'm so glad you kept up with your passion I had one just like it 72 the only difference is and I don't know if you did or not you took off the bumper rats but just about identical but it had a 225 Slant six should have never got rid of it I think about it just about every day and looking for something just like what you have God bless you for keeping up with it it's one of the dreams that I have I'm into cars but that's one that my father had bought my mother and as soon as I saw it I fell in love with it I used to take the tires off and clean both sides lot of Blood Sweat and Tears but I was in a situation I had to sell one of two cars I had in the dark went first and I should have just kept it but looking for something just like what you have there I'm in the market for another one just to bring back the memories and the passion that I did have with it and good luck and no matter what happens as long as you're around keep it around and you got a beautiful machine there congratulations and good luck in the future because it's a perfect looking machine one beautiful Dodge Dart Swinger God bless you God bless your family take care love the video

Cool story on how you acquired your '72 Dart, just as cool of a car. I want a Nova, old body but new drivetrain, suspension, brakes... I love old and new vehicles 😎

I was going through 2 sets of mounts every year with my 71 Plymouth scamp with a 340 high rise, 3/4 cam and a Detroit locker diff. Eventually put the leaf springs through the floor.

Love the car, it looks and sounds great! Great vid! To be honest though I'm relieved your throttle cable didn't get pulled stuck into the WOT position with you beating on it with broken engine mounts like that. I've had that happen to me in the Roadrunner before and it was not a fun ride! As for the larger classic Mopars they actually handle great! After daily driving a 68 Roadrunner for ten years I can tell you they drive better than a lot of cars that came out 40-50 years later. Steve Dulcich from Roadkill Garage said in one episode that the torsion bar Mopars were the best handling muscle cars and explained they were so ahead of their time suspension-wise because they had much better geometry than the reverse cambering designs the competition was using in the same time period. They also had super rigid unibody platforms with welded in inner fenders and core support while everyone else was still making mostly body on frame cars with flimsy removable inner fenders that were built more like trucks than cars. My Roadrunner has a Kanters stock front end rebuild kit, factory big block/Hemi rear springs and KYB OEM replacement shocks. It also came without the optional front and rear sway bars but it drives so damn good that I don't need them. When I first got the car my friends that were into autocross were just as surprised as I was at how good it handled. All I had to do was put 265 50 15's and KYB shocks all the way around and it instantly had more lateral grip than my friends Fox body and my other friends 4WS Prelude, both of which were lowered with adjustable coil overs and stripped down to bare bones with no interior comforts. Obviously the Prelude with its 4 wheel steering had a better turning radius but the Roadrunner had ten times more grip. Also an old Challenger isn't anywhere near fullsize, it was a pony car and is closer to the size and weight of your Dart there. Most small block variants weighed only about 3200-3300 pounds making it a whopping 1000 pounds lighter than the modern Challenger when properly equipped.

Thanks, yeah the mounts ore worn but not broken so its on the list to repair, honestly in this vid I pushed the car and was surprised how well it took the corners

@@HammerdownMotorsportsUSA Good thing they aren't broken then, I changed my mounts three times before going with Moroso solid steel mounts and the only times I saw my engine shake that bad was when the drivers side was completely severed. As long as you can't hear or feel the trans. hitting the floor when you hit the gas you should be ok.

Really cool car. Ever think of doing a restored with the 5.7 Hemi? I drove a 73 blue swinger briefly but it had a slant 6. Not a cool car in 1983. But I liked the lines. I was 18 at the time going to college. That was a long time ago. I was in a different place. I saw a dart on Pinterest that was murdered out and started me thinking. Great video!

No, a 1972 Dodge Dart Swinger is not a muscle car. The only 2 years a Dart Swinger was offered with a performance package was 1969 and 1970. That's because the largest engine offered in a Dodge Dart Swinger was a 318-2 barrel. Just because someone put a larger engine in it didn't make it a high performance muscle car. They can be made into nice performing cars.
