Beautiful car! I almost bought an orange Heavy Chevy, 4 speed, bench seat but it was a north east car and in 1983 it was already totally rusted out.

Very nice survivor Heavy Chevy find Mark! Good to see you are restoring it, the new paint and decals looking nice! My buddy, Smitty, had a Heavy Chevy in high school, paint code 14 14 Pewter Silver, and black striping with the rally type wheels and small center caps. H code motor 350 c.i. 2 barrel and the 3 speed manual floor shift. Vinyl floor, bench seat and raised hood with the hood pins. Believe his was a 1971, but maybe a '72. Cool cruising car! His brother had the SS 454 Chevelle black and white "skunk" w/ cowl induction and 4 speed that was super nice too (as of 2019 he still had his SS). His Dad and family always drove Chevrolets from Kizziers Chevrolet, located western NE.

with Chevelles being so popular these days, anything Chevelle related is cool, but back in the day this was a cheap way to go and people probably didn't spend much money on them, thus they ended up in the bone yard pretty quick. Thanks for the comment, I hope you watch part two to this video, the paint job on it is awesome!

@MarkMeldrumChevelleHunters10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Actually there is only a partial Vin stamped on the engine block and they started that with big block cars back in the sixties. I think you meant that this was the first year that Chevrolet started putting the engine size code in the serial number of the car. Engine codes in the VIN were "W" for the LS5/454, "U" for the LS3/402, "J" for the L48/350-4, "H" for the L65/350-2, and "F" for the base/307-2 engines.

Heavy Chevy models were based on the 300 Deluxe Chevelle body and NOT the Malibu. This is evident in the trunk emblem delete, the rubber/vinyl floor covering as opposed to carpet, the absence of bright trim on the drip rails, the "non-parking" windshield wipers, no bright circular trim on the tail light lenses, and most notably, the door panels. As someone else noted, the grill emblem would say "CHEVROLET" instead of "CHEVELLE", or possibly have no emblem at all. Looks to me like the 70k or so mileage may be original mileage, what do you think? Its perfect just the way it is, right down to those Fenton wheels! In a past life (or it seems that way anyway), I had a '72 Chevelle Malibu which came out of the Oshawa Ontario plant (still had the customs sticker on the door jamb with a little maple leaf on it), that car had the plastic inner fender wells too. Thanks for sharing, this has to be one of the nicer Chevelle finds I have seen on YT in a while.
