@@blue7081 Lancia hasn't always been rallying. But they have always raced. I'd love to see Lancia back in F1 as well. But there's nothing concrete yet, Stellantis is still figuring out where to position the brand. However, given the work that they usually do, even if the platform is going to be shared with the rest of the group, you can be sure that the cars will keep their identity, not like the last generation under Chrysler - FCA

I went to Ragusa, Sicily in August 1977, to visit some family members. The mother of one of my cousin's had one of these, but in Burgundy red . I asked her, if I could drive it around for a short distance on some twisty mountain roads. Wow I was astonished at how nimble and agile this Fulvia was. It handled the narrow and twisty roads with considerable ease. What a truly great and wonderful car, a real joy to drive.

I’m so thrilled to see you driving my old car! I had a ‘72 Fulvia just like this, except mine was yellow with a black interior. It was such an exciting car to drive, it always felt like you were speeding, and that little engine just loved to be revved. It was also not a car you see in Connecticut where I live, and everywhere I went I got compliments and questions. The key to owning one (or most Italian cars) is to not drive them in wet conditions. My car had spent its first 35 years in Ibiza and was kept dry, I kept mine garaged in winter and on rainy days. It was also an easy car to maintain myself, except for really complex jobs. It was my second favorite car to drive that I ever owned, the first being a 1973 Lotus Europa John Player Special in black and gold. It handled like no other car I’ve ever driven, like the steering wheel was connected to my brain. It was a seriously fast little car that loved to be driven fast. I’m assuming you live in Massachusetts from where you get most of your cars from? Well, if you’ve never driven up to the top of Mt. Greylock in the Berkshires, you need to. I’d often take the Lotus or the Lancia up and down it totally mind blowing (as long as you’re not afraid of heights). Most of that area of the Berkshires has great roads for sports cars.

My Alfasud Sprint has the fuel jet sign too for the choke, rather than the more conventionnal butterfly symbol we're used too. And the ignition barrel is on the left of the column, so you have to turn the key towards you. I love those details
@БранимирПетров
@БранимирПетров 3 жыл бұрын
That's probably related to the specific carbs used for this. Most Weber and Dellorto units enrich the mixture not by closing a butterfly valve over the venturi, but by an additional jet. At least the DRLA40s in my Alfa 33 are like that.

I visited Rome in the summer of 1981, and in a city full of Fiat 500s and 750s tearing around within an inch of their red-line, there were still some of these to be seen for the person who could afford something in a class above the Fiats. Among the small FWD Italian cars, the Lancia Fulvia (1500 or 1600 cc's at that time) were the top of the heap.

Loved my Lancia! The mechanical hand carved feel of everything is something special. Mine was a blue 2 liter Beta coupe. Top Gear did a hit job on the car I know. To be fair they were sadly bad for rust. They had been bought by Fiat true but they were true Lancias. The engine was an inline 4 from Fiat but Mr. Lampredi's little four banger was pretty wonderful too. I have very found memory of drifting down little gravel roads. Amazed at how happy it was in it's element. Your videos have great sound just wish I could feel and smell the inside of that car too. Sounds crazy but I'm sure you know where I'm coming from.

Tedward that knob under the dash that you referred to is the choke and the dash lamp indicates when the choke is on. Those cars are funny that way; the heat control and the hood release are also located under the dash. Unless the interior of the car you drove has been reupholstered the seats are vinyl. I had to look at the backing of the seats on my ‘66 Fulvia to determine that as the quality of the vinyl is that good. I agree that the 4-speed gearbox has a much nicer feel to it.

I was unnerved by last week's Maybach, but I could not place why it did work for me. I realized that any car company currently around would make exactly that Maybach if given enough money. The vehicle isolates you. It has no soul. There isn't an original though in The Maybach. Watching this Lancia be odd nails it. This Fulvia has a soul. It proudly has fun and does it with chutzpah.

Hate to say but by 1972 Fiat had purchased Lancia and they gutted the company. They used Russian steel which is where Lancia got the reputation for its cars rusting in the showrooms and they used cheaper components everywhere they could. If you put a ‘69 Fulvia next to the ‘72 you’ll take the early car every time.

I'm Italian and every time i see what type of car Lancia produced 30, 40 years ago, is strange to say but i'm sad. Because these cars are only a far memory; with the fulvia and the Delta we have also beaten Audi in the WRC in 1987, but now? well..we can say unfortunately that they no longer exist. The Fulvia has not been produced for 50 years, the stratos (another Lancia rally car that has practically disappeared) and the Delta well, they tried to revive it with a new model in 2010 but it was not very successful because it was fitted with a fiat engine, and now she too is out of production. Everything that Vincenzo Lancia, the founder, worked for in his life has been lost, and believe me when I tell you that as an Italian these words were difficult to write. All that remains is the memory, the memory of a past that can no longer return.

Hi guys from Italy.... I guess I have seen original plate in the bonnet numbered.... 454... It was the square shaped plate used in Italy until 1975...may you write (if possible, of course) the whole number? I had 3 Fulvias between 70s and 80s... When Lancia was Lancia and not Fiat rebadged. Ciao! 👋

Hey, quick question. Do you have the audio flipped, compared to the video? At 12:00, where cars go by on your left, the cars can actually be heard from the right. Is this intentional?

I just checked on the original audio, the rendered file, and the KZbin video. The truck and subsequent vehicles passing shows up on my left ear as they should.
