Wow! $56K- that is a 4Runner price, so you got a great deal. This is an old, comfortable, gas-hog SUV/truck body-on-frame luxury vehicle! It is NOT a sports car, so you purchase the GX 460 with all of its limitations and benefits accordingly. The GX 500 is more oriented and marketed as an off-road SUV and that's fine, but most SUVs never leave the road/pavement. I love the smooth, steady V8, which goes as fast as I can safely drive it around the suburbs and highway. I had my GX 460 up to 80 mph and it had zero issues and it was as smooth as when I drive it at 45 mph. The KDSS is great too especially in corners. The elegant slow GX 460 makes your a safer more responsible driver,, you're not in a hurry to get anywhere fast in the GX 460, you simply enjoy the steady ride that gets your comfortably to your destination. Also, the GX 550 only gets 1 mpg over the V8 GX 460

Finally a video that addresses this huge American problem. As a European driver towing a travel trailer on American roads, I am quite often frustrated and embarrassed by drivers who have no idea how to get onto a highway. Some stop at the start of the ramp, others drive at the same speed as me until the end of the ramp and finally others stop at the end of the ramp, in many cases I have observed that these drivers looked straight ahead without worrying about what was happening to their left shoulder!

I'm glad you mentioned middle-lane hogs. They are very dangerous! They typically drive slower than the posted speed or slower than the flow of traffic, and they make it difficult to pass or move out of the left lane. I really wish my state would legislate and pass a law about it.

One of my pet peeves is when I slow down to change lanes in heavy traffic the racecar drivers behind me jump over and around and into the gap before my turn signal clicks twice.

Problem is, in my neck of the woods, there is so much traffic all the time, and so many people drive 40 mph in the right lane, so if you want to drive at a reasonable speed in the right lane you have to constantly be leapfrogging out and back Into the right lane. It's safer to just stay up to speed in the middle lane and hope someone will let you back into the right lane again when it's time to exit.😊

Ive had my bronco2 for 5 years, i Bought it in Virginia. And left it with my family in Petoskey mi, while i was in the middle east, For the Most part, the car is bulletproof. My dad would tell me about how sometimes the only way they could get my brother. To school or go to work is because they had my Bronco with the 4 wheel drive. I have the automatic locking hubs. Not the manual locking hubs, you see in the video. And for the best part, they're adequate if you know where you're going. The one major problem I have with them is if you go in the opposite direction of which you've been going for the majority of time The one major problem I have with them is if you go in the opposite direction of what you've been going for the majority of time. The differential will unlock and you won't have power going to all 4 wheels. It's fine if you're on dirt or Rocky terrain. But the real problem with that happens if you're stuck in the mud or you're in the dunes. I almost got my car stuck in little Creek. Virginia the navy base there. And another issue I would have is sometimes my differential would not unlock. When I'm done 4 wheeling It usually helps if you go 10 feet forward and 10 feet backwards a couple times to unlock the diff , Other than that, it's a very capable car. I've won up totally steep inclines of about 30 or so. Degrees. And recently I took it out to Brown Mountain, North Carolina. And it made the trail no problem. I haven't done any modifications to it and it's still an it's stock configuration.

love the offroad videos and it makes sense with vehicles like these to see them in their natural habitat and not just on a highway! about walkie talkies, would you say they're a feasible option for roadtrips? we've got 2-3 cars leaving this summer and going through different countries and we figured being able to communicate instantaneously would be super helpful but I don't know how capable a "basic" walkie talkie is when surrounded by a metal box

Cruising (going many miles) in the right lane of a 3-lane State or US American highway, I would argue, is not Best Practice. Lane changes are always riskier than not, and merging into sparser traffic is always easier than having more. I can cruise 20 miles on my commute in the center lane, avoid any lane changes, and let the right lane activity take place without me. This goes double in North Carolina, the home of the disappearing (often quickly) right lane. You might possibly have a valid point on very limited access highways such as US Interstates. People go ridiculous speeds, so two "passing lanes" help with 20mph speed differentials (60 vs 80, 70 vs 90), and interchanges are large and well spaced (usually).

One of the devellopment guys said they had the specific requirement to keep the door sounds and the door lock sounds from the old one. As people just find them so iconic that the "new" version (in 2018) had to have that, despite the materials being partially different.) So there is thought and purpose in these sounds in the new/current one. edit: and in real life, i never get tired of seeing one of the AMG ones (being tested by the factory) accellerating full on. Them lifting the front looks so great, funny, insane and mighty at the same time. edit2: 16:58 Yes it will have that feature. (and where i live, it seems the elctric one might be cheaper than the Diesel or gasoline one as it doesn't have the extra fuel consumption tax...)

As an aside, I wonder how this compares to the Lexus SC400. I had one of those for awhile a few years back and from the looks of things, I think the Lexus might be a good bit tier higher in looks on the inside and out. but it was only RWD and lower in power. Great video as always!

People like to blame fast drivers for accidents when really it's sudden changes in speed. You don't have to be a fast driver to be a dangerous one, you just have to be one that's too eager to hit the brakes or one who never uses turn signals

When people are learning how to drive, they need to put in the hours to get confident in themselves. I was deathly afraid to go above 10 mph in my neighborhood when I started driving. But after practicing for 4-5 hours every day I became really good at driving around. Once my confidence was there, and I knew how to handle my car, I could take on the highways with much more confidence and get to the speed that I need to.

I really really really hate people who merge onto the highway at 30 or 45 mph. It just makes it dangerous for everyone. If I am stepping on the brake while merging onto the highway, it's because someone in front of me is going too slow. I have an old 2007 Chevy HHR that has over 150k miles with a 4 cylinder that tops out at 140 horsepower... Yes I can get onto the highway at 65 mph... I can get onto the highway at 80 mph, even. There's no reason people should be merging THAT slowly.

Rented one of these for 6 months on a business trip. Compared to the Sonata or Camry it's the best in terms of comfort, interior quality, and features. At first i drove the hell out of it and was not impressed with the lack of power. After that first month i calmed it down and appreciated it for what it was. A comfortable, decent looking, quiet commuter. It was also getting nearly 40mpg on the highway too, so that was a plus.
