1972 Penn State at Tennessee

This is the 9/16/1972 Tennessee at Penn State game. It is a film with radio. Penn State was a national power but complete respect nationally seemed to be hard to come by. They had undefeated teams in 1968 and 1969 and neither won a national championship. Joe Paterno decided to upgrade the schedule in the 70's but there was a problem with air access to state college so they took a few one sided series and it resulted in some growing pains. This was one of those. Two years in a row consecutively against Tennessee in Knoxville. This was an opener for Penn State. Tennessee had opened with Georgia Tech the week before and got some important experience for first year QB Condredge Holloway. It showed as Holloway played very well. I claim no rights.

It’s a bit surprising that it took until 1972 for Neyland Stadium to have lights. This was the first night game in its history.

Penn State's Beaver Stadium didn't have it's first night game until 1986.
