Love your conversion! My wife and I just finished driving Route 66 from Chicago to Santa Monica in a 1964 electric conversion VW bus.

Watching from Scotland 🏴. Love your VW Bus. Hope you have many years of happy driving in it. Looking forward to more EV related posts. Nice to hear EV West worked on it. Now subscribed. 😊👍🏻

Great to see such a tidy conversion. It is worth noting for the gas/diesel v electric brigade, that it takes 1850 gallons of water to refine 1 barrel of crude oil and 6kW of electricity just to refine 1 gallon of gasoline or diesel.This does not include the amount of electricity that is used to pump the oil/fuels. In the UK, just one of our 6 oil refineries uses the same amount of electricity as two cities. EVs are incredibly more efficient. And how can anyone argue against improving the air quality in our cities? Or the reduced strain on our health services by reducing ill health from air pollution?! I look forward to seeing your next episode.

Would love to see a similar conversion on a 66 Chevy Van😉

You could more batteries under it, fully agree with you about the idiots that talk smack about this being done. I want to do my 97 Jetta GT and then get a 2005-10 Jetta to do it to and put a UTE kit on it.

I have a 72 vw bus. And like all vw's of the time...they need a lot of work. I would like to ask...how much did it cost to do your conversion? The reason I ask is...like most normal people...there is no way I can afford the current cost of going electric. As much as I love the planet and want to go electric...I can't afford a 300 or 400+ car payment (I own an older vehicle that I do not make payments on). I'm not dirt poor, but I have a family and mortgage and bills (just like everyone else). Tesla battery packs (even the used one) can cost from 3 to 7 thousand dollars... The cheapest EV car on the market is 30k...(and it is tiny). This is all really nice...but how does any of this really work in the average person's life? Forget all the cost of solar panels (looking at a second mortgage for panels). I would be using the grid to charge my "Green" vehicle anyway... Sorry for rambling on...but it all just seems like this technology is just too expensive and will take too long to become viable for the majority of regular people.

Just converted an Opel Vivaro into a camper for renting out... Wish I knew how to convert to electric, imagine a fleet of campers driving around Scotland on clean energy... Amazing

If anyone's interested, the EV West Kit he is using is good for 100 mile range.

Great stuff, can't wait for more content . You had EV West instal your kit or did you do it yourself?
@patrickcrane16513 жыл бұрын
Hi Rob - a new EV conversion company actually did the install. They’re called EVSoCal. Really solid guys / friends.

Great job! May I ask how pricey is it to convert? I have a 1971 bus!
@patrickcrane16513 жыл бұрын
I think these days a good shop would charge you $20k-30k. But then you’re set for life.

The logic of green energy opponents : "Your new energy source isn't perfect, so we have to throw it out and keep using the old one that is exponentially worse."

Interesting that you don’t have to use the clutch...I drive all highway as soon as I leave home...could just stick it on 4th and go I’m guessing...I’m disabled too so drive with my hands, so it’s actually illegal for me to drive a manual. Always wanted one of these buses and a bug, never been able to look at them because they are all manuals

Sorry I'm a vw bud owner. The old way is only the best way. I agree with electric cars now BUT vw campers need to be engine all the way. That's my choice, sorry.
