WOW! My first bike was this exact model, same color, same everything. I remember Dad taking me to the Yamaha dealer to pick it out. It was an early birthday present when I was eight. Got it in the spring so I could enjoy it all summer, since my B-day wasn't until Sept. Thanks, just remembering this brought tears to my eyes. I sure do miss Dad! :-)

Damn it, I am soooo jealous. My Mum and Dad said, nope. No where to legally ride it, so it was a bust. Meanwhile, my neighbour burned around on his Honda SL70. Born '63, I turned 8 in '71 but it wasn't until I was at least 11 or 12, that I started to want one. By the time I was 14, I think my desire burned a hole through my brain like a plasma cutter. By then the XR 75 and YZ 80 were big.

The old man got me the Yellow one in the summer of 72 .I was 11. Best day and summer of my life. I lived in a city, but we still undeveloped areas to ride . I do have a 82 PW 80 but it is not the same as the mini enduro 60.Thanks dad !

I started on a minibike but, like many others here, this was my first motorcycle in 1973. I think about it often and wished I sill had it. This model gave me zero issues and a ton of fun for years. Thanks for this - what a beauty and the sounds bring back a flood of memories.

I remember going to Mullins marine Victoria BC and seeing this bike and wanting it so bad but my dad said it cost to much. So that Christmas I came out in the morning to see my presents and was disappointed that there wasn't the usual big present that was unwrapped . I overheard my mom say to my dad why didn't you get it. My dad promptly left and came back a short time later , they said we have something outside we want you to see and there it was this exact bike ( apparently it was at my brothers place down the road ) .The best Christmas present ever !

Tears of joy! These stories brings us all back to that day when the parents surprised us with that first bike. I continue to try to look through my parents eyes watching that 10 year old boy in 1973 see the motorcycle for the first time and the emotions poring out. If you still have your parents, remind them of this day as I did all the time. You don't know how lucky you are to still have them and would give anything to have them back .

In 1971 when i was 7. my friend got the 1972 JT1. we rode that bike double up into the mountains behind our house and we rode and rode and rode until we were all the way up along the foothills. The mountain range was called, "johnstone peak" Very far up for two seven year old kids to ride. The yamaha handled and worked perfectly. This was one really good machine.

That was my first bike in 1972. I had wanted a Mini Enduro from the first time I had ever seen one. It seemed like an eternity until I finally got one.My mom and dad came home with a brand new one for me one day in May of 1972, and I will never forget that day as long as I live. Seeing that bike just brings me back to a time in my life that just so cool, I rode that bike until I grew out of it and sold it for a bigger bike. Man I wish I still had that bike. Thanks for such a cool video !

@@Quanter44 I hope you had as much fun on your's as much as I had on mine...I only wish I could bring back those times riding in Monmouth County NJ and the pine barons again.. I ride Husky's these days and love them.. But this is my all time favorite bike....I still have to thank my mom and dad for getting me this bike and starting a life time of woods riding...

I had that bike, I rode it almost daily, I removed all of the lights and put better tires on it. It took a huge amount of action on it,

Got mine for my 9th birthday in 72. We went to the dealership and picked it out, a red one and it was $350. We had a really steep rugged dirt driveway that switched back at the top. The first thing I did was dropped it making the switchback turn going down and broke the clutch lever, I cried like a little girl. lol I agreed to sell it in 74 to pay some hospital bills when my little sister was born.....man that hurt. I`m 52 and still want another one.

Back then money was tight, I also had a red one, I don't remember if it was brand new, but the time I was done with it was rode hard and put away.
