Unique cars. My Javelin is always generating show talk, stories of old times, and bringing me home trophies every year. I have a "survivor" Trans am red with gold stripe & black vinyl interior 1972 Javelin SST 360 4v, 4 spd, with 10,300 original miles. My uncle ordered it from new off the Javelin Flyer cover. It was delivered April 10/1972 to Schultz Motors AMC. I've been told by many "It's probably the lowest original miles Javelin in existence." Honestly it's a love hate relationship though because I spend so much time at shows answering questions and sharing stories of Javelins with others I never get to see all the other cars. First world problems...

This couple was nicest people at the show (what it's all about). He also owns a Pro Street Javlin stretched 15" between the firewall and front wheel. That car has a fabricated one piece hood. The Birmingham World of Wheels had the most Javlins in one spot that I've seen in a long time.

I think the Javelin is the most underated Muscle Car because it was a AMC product. I got real familiar with my local police driving my buddy's Javelin one summer. I will say this it had the UGLIEST Pattern on the seats. This car is smokin compared most I've seen.

In '71 after returning from Vietnam, I shopped all the new cars. Trans Am was big, and I was interested in a car that could corner as well as straight line. I did not like the new bigger Camaro with the giant doors and the Mustang was even bigger although you could get a 429 SCJ in it. The 'Cuda had great style and 440's and Hemi's, but the interior was such cheap plastic. It came down to the Pontiac Trans Am (the doors again) and the AMX/Javelin. AMC's winning ways in TransAm, flared fenders, cockpit dash, and 401 power won my order. I custom ordered a SST version Javelin which was the same body style as the AMX but had faux wood grain dash, 401, auto, air, suspension, etc. Metallic Green with the same white stripe as the car above. I didn't want the cowl style hood 'cause I ram air it off the front and the flat hood made the front fender flares stand out. Front spoiler no big AMX spoiler. Lowered it about 1 1/2 - 2 inches. Loved that car until the '74 gas crunch and the 16 gallon tank did me it. I was driving truck so an auto for me!

Good choice, but if you waited just two more years, or traded in the Javelin two years later for a '73 Trans Am Super Duty and kept it, those are worth their weight in gold nowadays....also the '70-'71 Hemi Cudas and Challengers. And thank you for your service of our country...Vietnam was a nasty war. I went into the Marines 14 years after you got out.

The body was made on North Richards street In Milwaukee Wisconsin. From their they were shipped to Kenosha Wisconsin to be put on their frames and finally assemble.

Had a ‘69 javelin, a ‘68 AMX with 7000 miles( placed 3rd in a show, one judge told me I had the nicest car, but couldn’t give me first place for a reason I won’t go into), and a ‘72 jav/amx with the 401 4bbl that I found after I sold it, it was the vp or president of AMC’s personal toy hot rod. Wish I had all 3 of them back, even though they just don’t appreciate in value like some cars. Which is strange because they were such a limited production vehicle. It was not just plain stock, lol.
