@@nicolasmabru That would help me a lot as I am not planning on a generator. Once I get to the electrical side would love to get your advice on setup. I love your idea of AC up in the flybridge first time I have seen that.

I can help with the components and installation guidance as I am the manufacturer of the AC unit and do quite a few of these installations. The 28 is a great boat and outboards are becoming more and more popular

Pretty neat installation! looks very professional and most certainly a lot of quality gear on board. The 26 is supposed to be a simple boat. Did you need to install all the trappings? or are you just keeping yourself occupied? Still; a very rewarding endeavor...

The initial goal was a very simple 28 but as time went on, there were a lot of products that I wanted to experiment with as well which made the boat more complicated than originally intended. Needed or not will depend on each person and their needs but for me and my use, everything added was needed for the vessel to fit my needs.

@@nicolasmabru Definitely a labor of love. I'm afflicted as well I have two boat a bertram 26 which I entirely rebuild and a Pogo 36 which is also taking a lot of my time. Its about keeping busy and away from you know who!

I know you did the electrical work yourself. Once I get my bert. How much would you charge ne to rewire and move batteries inside?
@nicolasmabru
@nicolasmabru Жыл бұрын
I would need to have a bit more information on this. Are you asking about a full rewire of the distribution panel and adding a dedicated house bank or only moving the existing batteries from the engine room to the cabin?

I am looking at a 73 Bertram 28 to purchase and restore/update. If you don't mine me asking. How much did all of this cost?
@nicolasmabru
@nicolasmabru 2 жыл бұрын
I don't mind at all but the answer to that question is very tricky and dependent on how much you can do yourself, buying power and how picky or in-depth you want to take the project. Personally, I'm into this for the better part of 60-70K and this is not counting any labor

I would agree with the above assessment. I figured I would have 75-100k in it, not including a tri axle trailer.(I want one to pull the boat out during winter and Hurricanes. I just priced a pair of 4LV250 Yanmars and V drives for about 16k each from a local dealer in the crates. This does not include controls etc. It’s the little stuff that will get you though. Wiring etc. If you can find one in good shape that has been repowered, that is a good route to go. I got my ‘72 28 for free.

Yes , I want to do the same thing with my anchor! Def let me know how that goes. Also I plan on putting in Helm A/C as I am going to put a hard top( removable) on the Flybridge. Your 28 is in a lot better shape than mine. One question, how many gallons is your fuel tank? The measurements and design of the one I am planning puts me at about 200-215 gallons
@nicolasmabru
@nicolasmabru 2 жыл бұрын
my fuel tank is 160 gallons. I am very conscious of the weight that I am adding as this hull design does not like extra weight and needs lots of power to overcome extra weight. Windlass should be finished by next week. I have it in place now but need to complete the wire run for feed power and control.

@@dmitrihaines1451 no plans for a generator, that is the whole reason for the lithium battery bank, high efficiency air conditioner and high output alternators. I am running a ridiculous 17,000BTU unit on my 28 and just went out all day last weekend. I came back after having ran my AC the whole time out as well as the stereo (6 speakers and woofer running off of two independent amps), fridge, lights, and occasional use of the head and I was still showing 4 hours of runtime left when I got back to the dock. I have no need for a generator at this point.

Dude’s got a $1,00000 in parts plus 1,00000 in labor what is he trying to prove or do just a old 28 Bertram most people will give you it for free, the 31 i can see him doing and still not putting all that crap into it just because you have the money and ability doesn’t make it worth it or right
@nicolasmabru
@nicolasmabru Жыл бұрын
First off, are you trying to say that I have 200k between parts and labor? If so I can promise you that I am not there. Second, I would love to find a decent 28 that someone would “give for free”. The 31 is a better investment due to the craze behind them but for my use, the 28 has a better layout and suits my needs better. A boat is NEVER logical or a sound investment. You will always spend more than it is worth if you are rebuilding it right and not just spot fixing the issues that a potential buyer will see. What is worth it or right is dependent on the person doing the build. For me, I use my boat as a demo to test new equipment before I start offering said equipment to potential customers. This will cause some equipment to be be installed that is maybe not “necessary” but the point here is not to prove anything, just showing the process of the build and to show that it can be done. It is certainly not for everyone as most people would not be able to handle something like this and would be better suited either buying a new boat or finding one that has already been refitted.
