1973 Chevy 10 Van Craze Junkyard Find. I love finding these old vans in the junkyards and this 73 Shorty Chevy 10 was no exception. Looked to be a pretty solid old. it also looked to have been someone's flea market, slash hoarder storage container. . There were some pretty old books and maps as well aa some toys. and an old baby stroller. The 307 was still there but the transmission was gone. All in all a pretty cool find.

Whoa Nelley, another moldy oldie. Yup, not an original AC van, if so, the SPID would have C60. But the buyer knew enough to order (or the dealer did), the heavy duty cooling package. It was white on the outside originally and it appears to be green on the inside. Here we go, from the top on the VIN: C for Chevrolet, G for van, X for 307 V8 with two barrel, 1 for 1/2 ton, 5 for van and panel, 3 for 1973 model year, U for Lordstown, OH assembly plant and the rest is the production sequence. That C-clamp I believe is an older Craftsman that was made by the Adjustable Clamp Company for Sears. It's one that you should have grabbed, those come in handy. I have several of them.

That Montego is an MX, but those seats are not from that car. They are from a Montego, just not that one. The seats in that Montego are from the up series MX Brougham. The MX seats are plain with no center armrest. The door panels are MX correct. The Brougham door panels would have more detail and carpet on the bottom third of the door panels. It does have the rare electric clock. I am amazed at how many of all the Mercury Montegos and Ford Torinos of that period I've seen in the wrecking yard without a clock. Just a blank pod where one would be. Funny you mention comments about your voice. Wolfman Jack never entered my mind. Your voice reminds me of an uncle I had years ago that would troll the wrecking yards with me. He was super cool and probably the the most mellow chill person I knew. So this is almost like a trip back to the good old days at the flea markets and wreckimg yards with my uncle. P.S. Show the tools. I don't know why people are getting bootie tickled over that. It's your show, do it your way.

Fender skirts on that 76 Impala would sell. . I would imagine some of the crap in the van could be flipped online too. Maybe not for big money but internet stuff is hot right now. . I love these vans, I had three of the late ones, still have one but I need to get it out and drive it. Rust is about the only thing that kills them.

Yea I didn't want to get the skirts cause that yard likes to tax on those things. They like to look on eBay for prices sometimes. Went back there today and some of that vintage stuff in the van was gone.

That van would suit me fine -you can swap in a better subframe, squeeze in a 350 drivetrain, clean up the patina & disinfect the interior, & have a nice ride. Whew - if ideas were money, I'd have my whole block taken over with the vehicles I'd be working on.... That van's in better shape than you'd find up my way, unless it was completely off the ground & wrapped in canvas. And pay no mind to the inmate that can't stand your voice - chances are people can't stand him at all. It's all good. P.S. I'd have to find some good Cragar SS wheels, sidepipes for the exhaust, & bubble windows on the sides... got to get in that 70's vibe.

I had to pick up a couple of donor Ford Van's for some needed structural elements to complete my custom build. Managed to get everything stitch welded together for the moment. Still working out some issues. Should I stay with the duel wheels or go with super singles?

Looked at the VIN when you were brushing off the sticker. Is the 7th "digit" a U or a V? Looks like it was possibly out of the Lordstown, Ohio plant, or the GM Truck Plant in Pontiac, MI. Either way, Interesting find!

Was it close to a pick up truck, I would swamp it out and through some sears exhaust, a fair carb, trans if it needed one and in general have it back together in just a few days, hit it with some primer and junk yard wheels and tires and send it down the road as the glass was good and the dents minimum .. It would be more than I would put in some but its a easy fifteen hundred and only a few dollars to swap in from that yard. .... curious what they sell stuff like that for or is it too late once it hits that line? I just know how easy a money they are. As long as it has a single exhaust going clear to back and quiet.

Most of the time when they hit that line the VIN has been reported to the state as junked. I lucked out once here when some fool sold a '32 Studebaker to a pick yard. Serial had three threes in a row and they missed one on the inventory tag. Bought the body off it in pieces and sold it later. Because they messed up the serial the car could still be registered.

It depends on the person at the counter. I walked up there once with Sega DREAM cast video game system and few other components. Girl aaked what it was then said I can have it. Quite a few times it's happened like that. Other times non car parts they just ask a few bucks.
