This truck is perfect, simple, and honest. I like the two tone and love the patina. The powertrain is all you need, and it's not ashamed of what it is.

Always loved this platform and the evolution of it till the end. By 1991 this box body was still in Blazer form. I remember the rear shoulder seat belts being the primary update for that model year.

Cool truck. Back when I was in high school, 1980 through 1983. I had a 1974 Chevy C-10 Custom Deluxe. It was Catalina Metallic Blue with GM Arctic White two tone trim in the mid-section along with some descent polished metal trim throughout the body. It also had a radio and blue carpet on the floor. Bone stock. It had a 250 ci in line 6 cylinder along with a three on the tree shifter. Great dependable truck. I had it until 1989. I had to sell it because I was in the US Air Force and got sent to Germany. They wouldn't let me ship anything older than a 1977 over there. I really miss that truck. However, I do own three Chevy trucks. A 1966 C-10 Custom fleet side that I am working on to put in shows and parades. I have a 1994 Chevy Blazer that I am also working on putting a new 383 stroker in it. And my newest one is a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 Classic short bed Z85 (towing package). Gonna keep all three of 'em.

Good-looking old truck. This truck looks like a nice cruiser or hardware store runner. Fun fact about 1973s, the doors don't have rain gutters above them. They added them shortly thereafter in 1974.
@jamesbosworth41912 ай бұрын
That's why 73s are very hard to find, as the rubber seals leaked, and with no drips, water would leak in during the rain. Most of them had rubber floor mats instead of carpet, so you know what happened.

Some American cars still had manual column shifters well into the early 70s. My friend & next door neighbour in Pennsylvania had a 1973 Olds Omega that had one. The one that was the sister of the Pontiac Ventura,if I remember correctly? GM had them for longer in some cars than Ford or Chrysler,I think. They were very common in the 50s & 60s. I also think GM had them in trucks till the very early 80s.

And into the 2010s for trucks and late 90's for cars.

You are correct. Nowadays, most young people don't know how to drive any kind of stick, so a manual trans is an anti-theft device, as most car thieves are young guys.

2:05 Actually, some cars in the late 70’s still offered the 3 on the tree. But they did get phased out by the 80’s. The Chevy Nova comes to mind when it was discontinued after 1979. As far as trucks, Ford stopped offering the 3 on the tree on its F-150 after 1986. Chevy stopped offering it on the C-10 after 1987. Not sure when Dodge stopped offering it. I believe after 1980?

When you think about it, a production run from '73 to '91 isn't really that long. The GM full size vans were new in '96 and despite numerous updates, the same basic van is still in production to this very day.
@bazilwreckerloughead3 ай бұрын
My father used to have a 1973 Ford van with '3 on the tree', then he got a 1978 Ford truck with '3 on the tree'. I herd that to *celebrate* Chevy's longest running body style; this Christmas Chevy is releasing a 2025 Cheve square body!

I love restomods of these. The original powertrain is terrible, as is the interior, but the look of these is fantastic. On a related note, I remember people complained when the GMT900 Silverado debuted with squared-off wheel openings. Look at this C10 - it has squared-off wheel openings, and people loved it!! Same for the GMT400s and GMT800s. 🤷♂️
@jamesbosworth41912 ай бұрын
SCREW RESTOMODS! You are destroying history when you butcher an old vehicle like that. The 73 and 74 don't have catalytic converters and don't have to be smog checked, so you can convert the engines to late 60s specs and have PLENTY of power, and better gas mileage on top of that. A win-win if you ask me.

Not good to coast in Neutral. Hard on your brakes. Stay in gear until you feel the engine pushing against the brakes. You will have shorter stopping distances and longer brake lining life.
