Ther 60's era and early 70's great days of classic drum & Bugle Corps ! This show was my first DCI show, I had just gotten back from being stationed in Japan. I did buy the entire events LP's still have them. I did see the Argonne Rebels at a few Midwest shows in the 60's. My brother and I played with the Kenosha, WI Kingsmen for many years

great see at least a murky look at some great Corps from the past..and I always loved the way the Corps came back on the field..and the retreat..i do recall that each corp would march to its own street cadence..damn..that gave my Dad and I chills and thrills!
@karenlivingston84164 жыл бұрын
I agree. I matched back then and I loved it too when after competition all corps marched back on.
@americanspirit89322 жыл бұрын
We called it a street beat back then, not a Cadence. Real Drum and bugle c o r p s, no longer exist. May they all rest in peace. DCI has turned the activity into a marching band competition, superimposed on the three-ring circus. Yes these are all marching bands today.

I did lots of Photography were back then and I had many pictures of the Anaheim Kingsmen when they came east of the Garden in particular they were unbelievable. Purchased a diesel pusher motorhome back in 2001, travel throughout the country ended up in California met a young lady who is a member of the Anaheim Kingsman colorguard and I gave her several pictures of the guard that she was in. I did not have backup copies, I regret not making doubles of everything to this day they were great photographs. I'm sure the young lady really appreciated them and I'm sure she shed them with many former members of The Kingsmen.

This was probably the Muchachos greatest year, yet DCI judges could not even give them a fair shake. I heard that show, '75, it was a DCI winning performance. I was in a junior corps in Jersey, we competed against them in AL and VFW state contests. Should have placed no lower than2nd. or 3rd. in '75 DCI finals. Case Closed!!!

@@margaretsault7788 Not disrespecting SCV Margaret, they are an all time great corps and have won the second or third winningest DCI titles all time. I just liked Kingsmen's shows,musical and visual a tad better than SCV. Bit all through the late seventies, eighties, nineties and 2000's, SCV gets my vote, no question about it!

@@tommcconville4270 Oh, I know no disrespect intended. All good. I guess I get a little defensive because it took so long for the whole of '73 (for all corps) to come out so people who never saw that year could watch it. I mean, there were bit's and pieces of '73 out there, but it took about 30 years for the entire show to come out! For decades no one talked about '73 which IMHO, really was a game changer for the way everyone viewed the activity. Everyone has their 'druthers' as to the shows they like and that's o.k. :)
