Ther 60's era and early 70's great days of classic drum & Bugle Corps ! This show was my first DCI show, I had just gotten back from being stationed in Japan. I did buy the entire events LP's still have them. I did see the Argonne Rebels at a few Midwest shows in the 60's. My brother and I played with the Kenosha, WI Kingsmen for many years

credit due : a slice of the first dci event ! the scores were captured by jag productions from connecticut standing with a mic next to bob briske's face announcing the scores . all this going on with an impending rain & wind storm bearing down on the stadium ! listen to the score sheets flipping around just before the storm hit !!

So my band director basically for a little bit when we practiced are closer at little W he said there was this really bad drum Corp called the Muchachos and coming right on here and hearing 10th place the same Corp brings a smile to my face

@@davvidroip The only time the Blue Stars beat Anaheim after DCI was on the same weekend at the State Fair, a show where everybody had to cut down their show. Nobody rehearsed for that show as it wasn't really a field show. Our work was done, and we were mentally already headed home. But, the Blue Stars were a very nice corps that year!

Blue stars were outrageous fantastic drum and bugle Corps they should have won I've been involved with drum corpse since 1956 I've competed with several Junior and senior winning national championships plus as a spectator I attended hundreds and hundreds of competitions throughout the country and in my opinion First Federal Blue Stars should have won

Anaheim scored almost 4 full points from prelims to Finals?? Wow! 😮That’s pretty much unheard of for a DCI Finals winner to overcome that deficit! Respectfully I ask, was it deserved?🤔

it rained with thunder and lightning..they hustled us all off the field so only the drum majors were present, most corps didnt get to hear the announcements. Anaheim didnt get to hear themselves announced as winners till a recording surfaced over 30 years later.

Really Mr Announcer …“in 5th place“ (long pause … waiting… waiting), the Rebels from Argonne”! Way to mess up our name in the first DCI finals. (annoying and lame /(unprofessional).
